Today I had a pretty Mazda MX-5 in for a Zaino protection detail, no paint correction, just a quick write up, nothing too long this time.

The car was a little grubby when it arrived due to the salt on the roads.

So I got going with the PH Neutral snow foam...

Whilst that was soaking I treated the arches with AS G101, then jetted the whole lot off.

Then it was time for a three bucket wash (1 for the wheels) using Meg's Shampoo Plus & Meg's Wheel Brightner on the rims using the EZ Detail Brush & a soft round brush again.

The wheels were showing signs of corrosion, the owner was not concerned about them though as they are being replaced in the spring.

There were numerous tar spots that require 2 or 3 hits with AS Tardis to remove.

Next I sorted the area where the crud had really gathered, especially around the filler flap, again, using G101 & a soft brush.

    Before....

    After....

Now the roof wash washed using G101 once again, this time with a Vikan Soft brush.

Now it was time for the clay, Bilt Hamber soft, lubed using water with a few drops of Meg's Shampoo Plus & a hot air gun as the lube was freezing on the panel as it hit.

After 1/4 of the bonnet I had this!!!!!

The whole car was clayed, which took me 2hrs before I was happy it was fully clean, then the car was washed again & was dried using the Silverline blower, the hot air gun and a Miracle Drying towel.

The wheels iced up really badly & took ages, with the hot air gun & a Sonus Der Wunder towel.

Then the roof was treated with 303 Protectant, which gave a superb finish.

The paint was given a good look over & there was one large scratch that really stood out, full length of the front L/H wing, this had to be addressed as it really stood out.

This was wet sanded with a 4000 grit Abralon pad on a 75mm backing pad which removed it nicely.

Then one hit with the Kestral rotary using a Meg's 9006 Pad & Men'z FF left this....

The tailpipe was cleaned with Autosol & wire wool, there was some deep corrosion in the chrome though....

The glass was cleaned with Meg's Glass Cleaner & all exterior plastics dressed with 303 Protectant.

The tyres & seals were dressed with Swisswax Pneu on a foam pad, I love this stuff...

Then the car was moved into the garage where it was left for a couple of hours to warm up the panels before it was given 3 coats of Zaino Z-2 & moved back outside for pictures.

Nice clean up! It's a real pain when things start freezing on you. I had to call off a detail on my friends car when things started freezing :(.
