Rupes 75 mini - what am I doing wrong?

I purchased a Rupes 75 mini recently. I am an amateur but have been doing detailing for a while, have a Porter Cable and Flex machine as well. With the Rupes whenever I get above a setting of 3 I keep spinning the pad off. I am careful to make sure it is centered. I tried the Rupes pad, a Lake Country, and Uber all with the same result. Is this just a function of a large throw with a small pad or am I missing something?

 

The Rupes 75e is a beast, I've heard people grabbing a special interface backing plate from BuffDaddy.com since heat builds up on the velcro. What pads are you using? It's almost too strong... Ask Kevin Brown for suggestions.
