Just bought the FK1000 recently after reading plenty of positive comment on its durability. Used it yesterday and found it a pain to buff off after leaving it for more than 15 minutes. The longer i left it there, the harder it is to remove. Am i using it wrongly? By the way, it is very humid over here.(27-33 degree)

I only applied it once by hand and paid for it dearly. :D

I just can't put down a thin enough layer.

That is why I only use it with my udm and a white pad. Now it wipes off very easy.

wow, i'm sorry you fellas are having trouble buffing it off, i use it regularly, do the whole car and it's a breeze to take off, i love the stuff.

i also find it difficult to take off for some reason. Its a hard wax, but not terribly easy to apply thinly by hand. I though i was the only one who found it difficult to remove.

I much prefer to apply all my LSP with the PC and a white/red pad, I just get super thin coats this way versus doing it by hand . If you can, apply it with the PC, should yield you easier results.

I use Meguiars foam pads to apply, nice thin layer in circle, let sit for 20-30 minutes do the swipe test and remove with a Gladiator towel. I used it the other day on my fiances Accord, wiped off then went over the car with OCW using a Shagrag.

Your putting it on to thick remember a little goes a long way.

try spritzing your application pad with dg's aw. also spritz on each panel, the wax will spread more evenly and thinner and the results are amazing.

I've used it a few times now, always by hand, and have NEVER had an issue, and in fact, rate it as THE easiest wax I have ever tried to remove :)

I have left it for 20-40 mins in cold, warm and full sun, and it just gets easier to remove the longer I leave it - love the stuff :thumb:

Probably i am applying too thick. Is it ok to damp my applicator pad to achieve a thinner and evenly spread? Any idea would it comprimise the bonding?

damp is good - will also help get it thinner.

I find once the pad has some on it then it sort of melts and becomes very oily, making it easier to spread thinly.

Keep trying, as its certainly worth it IMHO :thumb:

as i stated before, try spritzing the pad with dg's aw and also each panel. the results are great and it helps to apply the wax thinly and evenly.

Dunno, I don't spritz anything, neither the app, nor the panels and don't have probs. Personally I wouldn't alter the chemical composition of 1000P on the applicator.

I agree with the others in that you are applying it too thick. I used it for the first time on Sunday on my truck. I applied by hand using a foam applicator. I sprayed the pad once with my ONR quick detail solution to avoid the "grabby" feeling. I applied one thin coat to where it was hard to even tell if any was applied. Removal was a breeze after it was sitting for 15 minutes as directed by FK. I am also doing a durability test on the hood against EX-P. Will be doing three coats of each on the hood, waiting two to three days between applications.

I hear a lot of talk about EX-P's lack of durability. Being that EX-P is one of my favorite LSP's, I wanted to see how it does compared to the 1000p. We will soon find out.

As others mentioned, you're probably applying a thicker coat. FWIW, a 100% cotton MF - like the DFtowel MF - is very grabby and can help in removal of stubborn LSPs.
