Got the Uber Griot's Garage kit from Phil when he had a special going on and all different pad colors. My questions is for the following products which color pad should I use and the speed I should use. Also does the pressure you use for the pad to contact the car vary depending on product? If not whats an adequate pressure to be using? -Power Lock -Super Intensive Polish -Super Finish SF4000 -Power Lock Thanks
The first power lock use a red pad on speed 1 or 2 the second power lock use a compounding pad on speed 6
UR2SLO, KIDDING!!!! I think most are gonna tell you to use SIP on speed 5 or 6 as needed, use SF4000 on speed 4-5 but finish with speed 3 power lock, use a LSP application pad ( black in DD kit or maybe red if your pad is lake country) on speed 1-2 HAVE FUN!!!
ampbmw - You are so funny !!! Yes, agree with SIP speed especially if using a Random Orbital. For a Rotary which is all I use, I like to ease into it at 900 and go up to 1200 and then come back down to polish it as the paint heats up. Just finished a hard paint '01 BMW 740i Sport with Cosmos Schwarz Metallic (looks blue in the sun), with Menzerna SIP on a 5" (actually several) Cyan HydroTech pads and it came out blinding clear and smooth. Menzerna compound and polishes need rotation in my experience, to work great and when they get it they really shine. Dan F
With SF400 what do you mean by speed 4-5 but finish with speed 3? Is the following setup correct? -Power Lock-BLACK, SPEED 1-2 -Super Intensive Polish-ORANGE, SPEED 5-6 -Super Finish SF4000-GREEN, SPEED 4-5?? -Power Gloss-YELLOW, SPEED ??
The usual speeds for abrasive polishes: spreading - speed 1 to 2 polishing until almost broken down - speed 5 to 6 finishing (last couple passes) - speed 4 or so
