I'm a bit confused on what exactly pre-treating a car before you do an ONR wash is supposed to do. I have heard treat all the bad spots with ONR diluted at quick detailer dilution, I've also heard to do it at clay lube dilution. I've heard to do it with a garden type pump sprayer, and that you can do it with a regular spray bottle as well. When pre-treating the nasty areas though, what is the process supposed to be accomplishing? Is it supposed to knock the dirt and grime off the car completely, like you would with a pressure washer or hose? Or is it just supposed to break down the dirt and grime so that when you wash it it's not stuck to the paint any more? I have been using ONR at quick detailer dilution in a regular spray bottle to pre-treat the really nasty areas of my car, and haven't noticed any marring yet, but I'm still not entirely sure if I'm doing it correctly. Your input is greatly appreciated, Clark
I do it just to get something with some lubricity on the paint before I start wiping it down. I use UWWP for my pretreatment.
well if you want to be safe, go for a more concentrated solution. It will not prevent marring but it will reduce it if its really really really nasty thus a coin op pressure washer/touchless is a first go to. However if you dont want to do that, Presoak, wait a few, then i go over with the ONR wash solution (instead of just wiping it). I dont think theres any real "correct" way to do it, but its down to experience on what works for you and for what degree of dirtyness =p I can do a bit of experiment for you once weather warms up on my mazda (it needs a full correction soon) with both dilutions. I also need to test out the suburf pads on mazda's paint with sealants/buffing off (something i've been wanting to test out for quite a while and to verify manufacturer's claim)
With a traditional wash, you usually pre rinse to remove the large or dangerous stuff before rubbing...the concept of presoak before an ONR wash is the same: to wet and emulsify some of the dirt before touching the paint to provide a slight buffer over just diving right into it. I almost always presoak the lower panels.
Use it at clay lube dilution or if you want you can use it at quick detailer dilution, but I dont think its necessary at QD dilution just clay lube dilution.
