ONR: Seems like a Natural Choice before Clay

You know how an ONR wash leaves behind a slight residual slickness afterwards (especially if you used distilled water)?
Seems like it might be a better choice of wash to help 'set the stage' lubricity-wise for your claying.

Anyone try comparing a regular 2-bucket wash/clay versus an ONR wash/clay?

I'm sure someone on this forum has tried that before. This forum as a whole loves ONR as a product, and some people wash and clay in the same stage. I would think it'd be a great idea. I just prefer the traditional wash more.

Nope, I lubricate the surface enough that I don't think that how slick the surface underneath would affect the clay.

I do too. Be careful about doing this when doing it mobile. I can do it because the water at my house is very soft, but when doing it mobile, I was claying the car my usual way, the water seems to help. However, 10 minutes later, while claying, I noticed the water was spotting on the car already. This place was about 8 blocks away from my house, I thought I would be safe, but I made A LOT of extra work for myself.

Just saying, be careful when doing that while doing mobile work.

Using distilled water with your ONR would eliminate this issue, right?

So if mobile, simply premix your ONR in a bucket that has a sealable lid and you're good to go.

I would love to clay before drying... but the water where I wash is fubar... just gotta get a CR spotless... lol

I would think the stuff in ONR would lead to some kind of spotting though...well hell maybe it would be similar to leaving a light polymer QD if so..still spots though lol

More often than not I've had to do my car washes during nightime hours, using my worklights. When I did a traditional wash once at dusk, I thought I had dried everything thoroughly but woke up to water spots the following day. All nightime washes I've done since then have been ONR w/distilled water: no more water spots. In the interest of accuracy in reporting results though I must also not fail to mention that my ONR washes also included Optimum's QD during the MF drying stage, but I'd still expect to possibly miss a few spots all the same: but still no water spots or residue.
