Does anyone know about changing the backing plate out on these? For instance, assuming it comes with a 6" backing plate, can you change out the backing plate for a smaller one what would accept 5.5 inch pads or smaller?

    Just like the PC7424.

The 25 foot cord model is 107 on amazon too.

Nope, the part # is for the v2.

I did some sniffing around on the vendors Web site, same price, shipping is a buck cheaper at $6.99. Free shipping for orders over $99.

They have some other items of interest to detailers from Carrand, 3M, Sprayway, Meguiar's, GG, etc. Not an overwhelming selection but gallons of M205 and 105 are cheaper than I've seen anywhere else.

I'm gonna order from the ToolTopia site and add a couple of Meg's foam applicator pads for $2.09 and after the free shipping I save 5 bucks and get a coupla pads to boot.

A Makita 9227C is $226.99, about what you'd expect. A kit with a carrying bag and some other goodies is $191.99. Go figure. Looks like the place to buy hand and power tools as well. :thumb:

TL <--- can't resist a deal whether I need it or not :duh:

Hah! I ordered the Griot's 6 inch from Tooltopia today with an extra 5 inch backing plate for just under $108 shipped!!

Weird tho, i searched Amazon last night and the Griot's DA only showed up for a couple vendors - PBMA - Autogeek and some other place but both (especially PBMA) were quite a bit more.

Now i just need a bunch of 5.5" Hydrotech pads to go with it.

    Can't wait :applause2:

I hope to find out. FedEx dropped it off this morning and almost head-on'ed UPS coming in with my steamer. My vehicles and bikes are clean and shiney without defects. I've run out of friends and relatives to use as guinea pigs to refine my processes.

:shead: Guess I'll try to hijack a neighbor's beater for a day so I can try things out.

I got in on this deal even though I have a PC and a rotary. I have to say I'm very glad I did, the Griots is easily 2x the machine that the PC is. I can't get it to stop spinning no matter how much weight I put on it. If I just just the weight of the tool, the pad spins super fast, I'd guess around 1000rpm, perfect for finishing out.
