    Hi guys,

I'd like to know which is better and why: metallic or non-mettalic.

I am looking to buy a black car.

Some say non-metallic looks dull when not clean etc ...

What are the pros and cons for each?

    Thanks!

I prefer metallic colors over flat ones. My only concern would be paint matching after any repaint. Worst areas are the plastic components (bumpers are the worst). My favorite pearl white color is the caddy pearl white and I have yet to see one that all the panels match after a repaint (the purple hue is extremely difficult to match).

Another thing I dislike about metallic paints is that touch-ups stand out more because of the difference in shade.

BTW my car is a non-metallic black and I like it a lot. You can get a lot of depth if it's polished right .

    metallic. all the way!

i had a jet black 4runner, Audi, SHO, jetta. and it drove me bonkers all the fine scratches you could see.
the metallic in my passatt and in my 300 (even tho not black) are great at helping to hide them.

my audi looks nice when i get the scratches out and have it all polished but i can only do massive correction so many times before i run out of clear coat :)

so in the end i like them both. but the metallic just for my OCD and a nicer looking ride even if it just an illusion
