I'd really like to have a discussion about drying. I have for years since I was little and washing our family cars with my dad, been using an electric leaf blower to blow off the majority of water from the car and then using microfibers to wipe down.

However, I've been really thinking lately that the way I dry isn't yielding the highest standard of results.

I'd really like to know what you pros think is the most superior way to properly dry off a car that has been corrected, so as to keep from inducing marring, but my most important issue is to dry to a perfect finish with no streaks.

My big problem is, no matter what QD I use, I when I mist a panel that is 90% dry and wipe with a MF drying towel, the QD leaves a haze over the whole panel, that often dries not completely clear. But will leave some streaks. I HATE THIS!

I know maybe i could go back over it and buff it with a dry towel, but I'm scared of dry wiping when dust may have settled...

I guess the biggest question I have is, what is the best drying aid that you can use for some lubricity in your towel that won't streak and leave a haze when you use it to help dry?

I use a metro air force master blaster to dry.

I dry 90% of the car with an electric blower then pat dry any remaining water with a WW. I find the key to a streak free finish is having the paint relatively cool and out of the sunlight.

i use the pooling method to get rid of the majority of the water then follow that up with the master blaster to get all the cracks and crevices...i use Adam's Detail Spray which doesnt leave any streaking and helps in the drying process..it also adds some shine to the paint as well

Let the water run freely out of the hose for your final rinse and then blot up, don't wipe, the remaining water. I don't use QD's when drying. As well, if you can afford the Metro Blaster, they are fantastic.

I use a water filter giving me 0 ppm water. I could just walk away, but dust clings to the beads, so I still remove water from crevices etc. with a metro blaster and dap here and there with a towel. I also find that many QDs need too much buffing, if I want that totally smear-free finish.

If you're using a towel, never wipe the paint, you need to pattern dry to prevent marring. And if your towel can't do that, get a different towel.

I've been using towels like these for 2-3 years now: http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/de...wcm9kdWN0cy8zMi9taXR0cy0tdG93ZWxzP3NvcnRieT0=

All kidding aside I would try different quick detail sprays and see if you get better results. Prima's QD (I think it's called Slick) is pretty good. Meguiars Ultimate QD and Zaino Z-6 are out-of-this-world-great.. I haven't used Adams QD but i have read a lot of posts where people were saying it was great also.
When I use a QD as a drying aid I spray the QD on the paint while it's still wet before I start drying it off. Try that.
What kind of microfiber towel are you using? How are you washing it? Using fabric softener supposedly ruins microfiber.
I wouldn't recommend trying to put any thing on the towel.

    Pooling method.......
Prima Hydro, or Durgloss Aqua wax as a drying aide

    or

$30.00 craftsman leaf blower and finish up with CG pro detailer. results are the same, Nero looks the best though.

I don't always use a drying aid but Prima Hydo is my go to when I do. I've never had streaking issues with it although I have had with other products. It does add its own look which may or may not be a positive depending on what you're after.

Blaster for sure! I use the pooling method before blasting with air just so the amount of water needed to blow away is minimal. In the event I use a QD, I use Adam's detail spray.

I've also had great success using Megiuars Ultimate Quick Wax as a drying aid. Only problem is I always over use the stuff and run out way sooner than I should.

If this happens no matter what detailer, your towels may need a good cleaning. You could be using too much detailer as well.

I really like Optimum QID. It is very cost efficient, very slick.

Pooling/sheeting method, followed by blower and touch up with MF towel. With Opti-Guard on my car it's pretty much dry after doing the sheeting method anyway. ;)

I never used to use detail sprays. I never had a use for them. If my car needed to be cleaned, I just washed it (this was before I knew about ONR and Opti-Clean)

Until I found Prima Slick... Works great for drying.... And cleaning glass

What temperature are you washing your microfibers in? Maybe there's some kind of residue embedded in the fibers? You could try washing them in hot water. IIRC there is also a cleaner specifically for microfiber cloths & towels.
