    Hey everyone,

I was at my local Costco the other day, and was looking at the LCD TVs.
With my "generous" budget, I am afraid I can't go with the LED-LCD units.

I just need some inputs on which would you recommend.

    Choices are :

    Vizio 40" 1080p 120hz $529.00
    Vizio 46: 1080p 120hz $799.99
    LG 47" 1080p 240hz $799.99

    Thanks for your inputs.

    is there not Samsung ones?
Vizio is a taiwanese brand and i dont know how reliable they really are
LG, altho they do make their own panels like Samsung, theyre usually a notch behind in some aspects
note: Samsung/LG-Philips/Sharp are the major LCD Panel makers, i do believe Mitsubishi makes em too but only for their domestic market.

Hmmm, I don't think I saw Samsung ones around that price range.

    What's your price range?

Chill on slickdeals.net, they have a few TV deals that pop up that might fit your budget.

    yeah look for deals lol
costco's benefit is the extra year of warranty they give u
also the LG's 240hz is potentially dynamic and not static 240hz (prob at 120hz static)
higher the hz, the smoother it will be when you watch sports and stuff but really, the human eye can only do 24hz~ and its also source dependent.

Get a Sony. I have two, a 40" in the bedroom and 52" XBR9 in the living room. Love 'em both.

Vizios are great although I personally don't own one. The company runs on very slim price margins thus the cheap price. I usually use the vizios spec/price as a starting point when I shop for TVs. I ended up getting a samsung ln46c650 which is a great TV. My 2nd choice was going to be a LG because its a pretty good bang for your buck IMO.

I'd have to recommend a Samsung as well. And you are correct that Sony uses Sammys panels.

Samsungs are great. They may be a bit more expensive but for some reason their 2010 line of lcd are cheaper than their last year. I paid much cheaper price for the 2010 46" than the 2009 40" version which didn't seem too right to me but I'm not complaining.

from a vizio owner, get a samsung. Vizio are priced low for a reason.

in your size and price range I would urge you to consider Plasma. IMHO, plasma has a better color gamut and much smoother picture especially for film based content. If your a huge sports fan then I think you are on the right track with you LCD choices. A panasonic G10 46" plasma runs in your price range (< $1k) shipped from amazon. Also, check out amazon's prices before you buy from costco.

If your price range is in the range of $1000 then look at :

Sony Bravia KDL-46 EX 500 retail is $990 but i'm sure you can find it cheaper
Also, as the members have indicated give a good look at the Samsungs. They're great Too
have fun shopping and take your time choosing. Also, if u can wait until close to Christmas when prices tend to drop alot. Good luck!

Samsungs are really nice TVs if they can fall within your budget. I've had a lot of success with Sony as well.

As far as plasma goes, I'm pretty sure they have a better refresh rate, so if you are planning on watching more sports then plasma might be of interest to you.

    Good luck.

Plasma have higher refresh rate and are brighter compared to conventional LCD, however they have lifetime on their pixels and they generate more heat. Theyre cheaper to manufacture thus they're still used on big tvs. If you plan on not keeping it for more than 5 years, getting a plasma saves u cash and a bigger screen then u can buy a LED later on =p
