rebottled mineral spirits at 50x the price...hehe...nothing amazing unless you dont know how to wetsand and polish...
It's half art half science... ha ha, ambient temp and paint play such a huge factor that results are hard to exactly duplicate from one job to the next I have used it quite a few times, it can be frustrating... Here's a couple posts of mine from another board Another (huge gouge) Before: Filled Surfaced: To be honest Phil this is something that does not yeild PERFECT results... I tell people "if you cannot notice it from 4-5 feet away the job is a success"..... You have all the tools to fill, wet sand, compund, polish I would really suggest that route
I have used it a few times to varying degrees of success. In one case, the mark completely disappeared on a red metallic paint job which was impressive, IMO. The nice thing about this system is that you have an alternative to wet sanding if the clear is thin or you are close to an edge. I found the longer the paint dries (days), the better.
Yup.. don't waste your money on the other stuff... You can use a credit card and I use a bed sheet cut up to wrap around it... you basically need a material with little/no nap so it doesn't "reach" into the "valley" of the area which would cause the need to go back to step #1 (filling with touch-up)
Lanka Paint chip and scratch repair technologies, is both a chemical and mechanical process, once the touch up paint has dried, The Blob Eliminator® will re-soften the paint, and the light rubbing mechanically begins to "smooth" down the excess paint, with the touch up paint now appearing on the cloth - LANGKA Paint Chip and Scratch Repair - Langka and Metallic Paint-the reason metallic looks different after using the product is the metallic flakes migrate to the upper level of the paint surface while setting up. To counter this, use the blue sanding card on edge immediately after applying the touch up, like a razor. This will remove most of the touch up while the metallic flakes are still suspended evenly throughout the paint, smearing the excess across the local area. Let dry and use the Langka to wipe away the smear tail left across the original (OME) paint. - LANGKA Paint Chip and Scratch Repair My preference after using Lanka a few times-Quixx GSRS German Scratch Remover System – Welcome to Exceldetail!
I tried the "smearing" technique on the silver metallic vehicle posted above with terrible results.. I am sure it was just me... I resorted to the cloth wrapped card technique What do you prefer about the Quixx GSRS product when compared to Langka?
I have had good luck with it. It is somewhat of an art and you need to be patient and if you screw up just start over.
