So .. today has officially turned into one of the most annoying and scary days of my life .. I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore collector by any means but I could easily say that I have WELL over 8K worth of detailing supplies in my garage .. I only just started detailing cars outside of my family and friends so the position I was in felt comfortable to me and I've been thinking that the future was bright with this hobby/possible side job of mine .. today, everything changed .. I came home after I closed my office and noticed that my garage door was open a little bit .. I knew RIGHT AWAY that something horrible was awaiting me inside as my garage is motorized and is ALWAYS shut (I'm OCD) .. I went inside and found the unthinkable .. I would say that more than half of my supplies are gone and the bastard(s) had the nerve to throw a lot of they didn't take against my ground and the walls .. I'm at a loss for words .. I'm trying to figure this out piece by piece because it seems like the person WAS in my garage or has at least seen pictures of it from my Facebook because they seemed to know exactly where my expensive products were and went RIGHT for them .. I'm taking Fuzion, supernatural, Souveran, gallons of products like ONR, various detail sprays, my small pressure washer and even the new floor jack I JUST purchased to name a FEW of what's gone .. I feel completely violated and just don't understand how a person could steal not only my products but my security like that .. in the end, these are just material things and I immediately ran up my stairs to the house to make sure they didn't gain entry (I have a Yorkie and a house filled with irreplaceable items; nothing was taken and thank God my dog was fine) .. I can't call the cops because there's no point and the last thing I want right now are police officers and insurance people poking through my shit .. just thought I would vent here as I'm at a loss for words and cannot believe something like this could happen right after Christmas .. the moral of the story is to watch who you let near your stuff and to keep your guard up always because it's SO HARD to trust people in this world .. well, hope everyone is having a better day than I am and that you all have a happy and a healthy new year .. below is a picture of what my garage looked like a few months ago .. to the left are another set of shelves FILLED with products .. I don't even want to go into the garage anymore, I'm just sick
Oh man... I feel really bad for you. WHat the ****? I have never heard of people stealing detailing supplies. I'm gonna go ahead and ask the obvious... Have you showed your collection to alot of people? Whoever did it obviously knew you had detailing supplies. It's not like a random burglary where alot of random things are taken. Seems like they targeted you for a reason.
well we at the same page my friend. I have a civil court case letter in the mail. Now I have to fight this person in court with an attorney. but Im sorry for your losses. I will install a camera in my house pretty soon after this story.
viOlaziOne--- I am so sorry to hear what happened to you.. It is just sick.. You could claim against your Homeowners insurance and maybe get the value all back or partially back so you can rebuild your Inventory again I hope. A friend of ours recently had his house robbed - they kicked in an outside back door, came in, stole his Laptop and all his wife's jewelry. And walked right out the front door of the house. It's either random, or they know/knew about your stuff from seeing it with the door open, or if you ever posted it up and they figured out you were on their street or something.. It is so sad that people are such thieves anymore. Maybe they are on crack or something and think they can do anything and pretty much do what they want until someone ends it for them.. I hope you will find a way to secure your garage so that this doesn't happen again. I have a few layers of Security at our house and its utilized everytime we leave.. Good luck, hope it all works out, let us know what we can do to help, ok ? Best, Dan F
That sucks, will your home owners cover it? People these days are un real... they will steal anything.
i think youre making a mistake by not calling the police. if you own the home, will your homeowners insurance cover it? i would check on that too....
I may install a camera now as well .. it's just annoying to think society is THIS low that people cannot fend for themselves and EARN what they have thank you for the kind words and I will keep everyone updated .. it's all just hitting me now so I'm still thinking about WHO could have done this and why .. I'm sure I'll eventually find out though because I have a FEW friends who "detail" their cars and NONE of them could afford a tub of Fuzion so if that turns up I'm kicking their head off the problem is I don't own this home, I'm renting the house and we only just moved in a few months ago .. my Mother has been battling health issues (cancer, although the outlook is bright) and I suppose it's just pure ignorance to the fact that shit like this happens .. I'm not too upset financially because I've been MORE than blessed to own a business at 25 but I truly do feel violated and there really isn't anything the police or insurance will do for me since I'm not too keen on keeping records off my supplies since Uncle Sam already sticks it in my ass enough (if you catch my drift :shead I honestly appreciate the concern and it does mean a lot that people care .. everything will be fine in the end I'm just upset .. I'm also SO HAPPY that my girlfriend was visiting home in South Carolina for Winter break otherwise she would have been home for SURE and God forbid what could have happened if she heard a noise and walked in on the assclowns .. I'm going to assume it's a Facebook friend because I have albums showing cars I've done and MANY pictures of my own car which does (not that I've looked) have many pictures of my garage layouts and what not .. I've since deleted those pictures and it's a shame that I have to even do that .. so much for freedom huh ??
Sorry to hear about your loss...I too was robbed last year..the violation you feel will take some time to heal...hang in there and be careful when you replenish your supplies...sometimes thieves wait for you to replace your stuff and then they strike again!
man this sucks i have never heard of people stealing detail supplies i mean that in it self rules out the usual drug addict common thief thing. had to be someone you know......and this has me thinking i always take pictures and post to sites and on my detail biz facebook etc and have lots of products and two motorcycles in the garage with the keys in them ...i moved from ny to sc 10 years ago for safety reasons but you cant outrun crime... sorry this happened to you
I didn't even think about this until about ten minutes ago but I had a Mossberg 590 VERY close to where the person(s) were rummaging through and taking/breaking everything .. wouldn't that have been a great thing .. the sick part is I had taken my garage kept car to work TODAY for the first time in weeks .. otherwise I have a feeling it would have been messed up, stolen or who else knows (maybe the prick would have taken a crap on my hood out of spite) LOL I honestly appreciate you all .. don't really have many people to talk to about this and just venting a little helps a LOT .. currently looking online for cameras in the garage and around the house .. have to protect myself and my family :graduation:
I know how you feel. In the past week, all fives of our cars have been gotten into, and all the change taken. We don't have a garage, but they're locked, and they cracked the plastic area around the shift area in one car, trying to yank the change holder out. It's a sickening feeling for sure. You just feel so violated that they took something that doesn't belong to them and they got away with it. Very sorry to hear this happened to you.
That sucks really bad. If you have one around, Bj's or Costco has security cameras for decent prices. Or newegg might be a good place to look.
Sorry for your loss, not sure how someone could live with themselves when they pull shit like that off. Hopefully you can get compensated for what happened. -Kody-
Very disheartning to hear how people stoop to this level of crime, and the feeling one has after becoming a victim. With a little luck, maybe these meatheads brag or show someone the products and someone turns them in.
Wow, I have never heard of anyone being robbed of their detailing supplies. This must be someone you know or knows of you, otherwise, why would a random burglar know you had expensive detailing supplies?
Watch Craigslist, eBay, and forum classified listings for your products. Good luck with sorting this out. I've been hearing many episodes of breaking and entering from co workers and family lately. Theft seems to be escalating.
Yikes that is brutal to hear. As you mentioned at least it's only material goods, your safety and everyone else's wasn't in harms way. It's sad what people care capable of doing. Hopefully everything works out for you and the criminals get what they deserve somewhere down the road.
That sucks, I'm sorry! Just in case you weren't aware, if you are concerned about going to the police due to you not having "records", all these pictures should be evidence enough for the police. your insurance may be another story, I have had friends have GREAT experiences with their insurance covering undeclared valuables, and others would just say "if you didn't tell us you owned it before it got stolen, sucks..." but either way, I would recommend at least filing a report with the police...and as others have said, keep your eyes out, and maybe even post on other forums about this, and check ebay, craigslist, etc. Good luck!
From a LE perspective, you should call the police and let them take photos, dust for prints, canvas the area, speak with neighbors and check the surrounding security cameras. Plus you put it on record with the local police, which can assist you with any future insurance claims or civil litigation. Could be a local ring or suspect that they already have info on. Definitely put in an insurance claim too, with all the photos you have documenting your products you shouldn't have a problem with recouping some or all of your money invested.
