What a busy but great weekend! Client is a manager within the company we work for. He was saying how he recently sold his 1972 Old's Cutlass and I cringed because I really want work in that era of Americana!! I gave him one of my card's and he said I wish I would have known this sooner, I just sold my Corvette a few months ago too....AARRGGHH!! Well, we don't know what we don't know right?? Anyway, he asked me to come over and quote both his and his wives vehicles. This post is his truck that he picked up about a year ago, 115,000 miles and had some seriously messed up paint!! He just put new tires and rim's on truck...I told him he made a great choice! They will match the truck perfectly when I am done with it! Onward...arrival.. Prep work was basicly a wash and Iron-X. Ran out of light though.. Man I hate how early it gets dark now...river of purple from Iron-X kicking tail!! Jumping right into paint defects...this is ugly... Yup, that's the hood.. Drivers front fender... After weighing options, I chose to go with my Meg's killer combo.. However it did not take long to discover this correction was generating way too mush heat for a M/F Cutting pad. I ended up running with Orange Uber Foam Pads from Detailers Domain...it rocked..I did most of these photo sessions with 50/50 shots...you will be shocked..... Making progress....WOW!! I taped off a box under passenger mirror, very cool... Light please...YIKES!!! Passenger side rear door...now it gets really good! Finishing up first door.. Next door condition...geeshhh...ruff ruff!! So I taped off a section and compounded it out, watch this... Nice!! Directly below this...sunlight was perfect to pull this off!! Together.. That was awesome!! Next step... Oh yeah...now were talking! Heck yeah!! Seal it up and good night....zzzzzzzz... One more thing... Early morning pick up...not much sun...but that's o.k.!! Found some sun! Client nailed it with new rims!! So there we have it. I told client nicely that I have never worked with such messed up paint, but it gave us a huge outcome!! Total time was about 18 hours. He was quite impressed and very pleased with outcome!! As always I welcome your comments, questions and thoughts. Have a great evening!! Hoover P.S.....Clients wife's car...picked up truck, left me this....post coming later tonight, so stay tuned!!
Those before pics almost made me develop a nervous twitch! LOL. It was hammered. Again, excellent work as usual. Fantastic client and eye pleasing results!
Thanks guy's! I really did enjoy this one as I finally relaxed and simply let the Rupes do all the work. With the right combo it will cut defects without applying a lot of pressure. If the backing plate is spinning, you are cutting defects!! Glad you enjoy post's!! Inspiring one another is awesome!! Hoover
