Can anyone tell me if this is safe to use? I know I read wheel brightener isnt too safe, so it led me to BR, and it's pH level.

    Just a quick question :)

BR is a pH 14 ( on a scale of 7-14) wheel cleaner

    High pH (base)

A strong base is a base which hydrolyzes completely, raising the pH of the solution toward 14. Concentrated bases, like concentrated acids, attack living tissue and cause serious burns. They react differently to skin than acids do, so while strong acids are corrosive, strong bases are referred to as caustic.

Hows the smell when using 3:1 or anywhere near that dilution? I heard it smells like a$$... That user was doing 1:1, so at a higher dilution how is it?

fine with me, but that doesn't mean its safe to breath, so wear something or cover ur noise is always a good idea for me at least

It tips the scale of alkaline wheel cleaners. It smells fairly bad, but it's not the smell, it's breathing it in that's bad. It makes me cough up a storm, so I suggest wearing a mask during use, especially on a breezy/windy day as BR is clingy on wheels but seems to love to float around in the wind.

mrgolf, it's not your fault, many people read my name as "Emily" but it's pronounced like "A-meal."

They put in a chemical in natural gas as it has no smell of its own, as a warning, for the same reason strong chemicals put in a smell to discourage you from breathing the fumes.A respirator mask and gloves are a must (a full HAZOP suit will really get the neighbours talking).

Gotta love detailer's, they'll use a cleaner formulated for cashmere and lingerie for cleaning soiled carpets and a chemical formulated to clean concrete to clean clear coated wheels

Well, I use Megs Wheel Bright diluted 4:1 on really bad wheels. I don't think the smell is bad and it cleans fine. Now, before you go out and buy some, use it wrong and F up your wheels, let me share my technique:
    1. Wash with regular car wash soap, rinse
    2. Spray WB, scrub with a wheel brush, rinse
    3. Spray a little APC ( I use Majestics Super Green 3:1), wash with sponge, rinse

Also, works better if you have a powerwasher too!
