Flame on ... I am planning on detailing my dad's vehicle on Tuesday. Upon inspection, I noticed that one fender and front bumper had respray ... he denied any bodywork, but later admitted that he had a small accident a couple of months ago ... lmao. Anyways, I was thinking about doing a one step and a hard body application. I'm pretty sure I can't polish fresh paint for 90 days, but how do you guys handle protecting (lsp) freshly painted parts on a detailing job? I would hate to do hard body application on everything else but those two areas. Any suggestions?
You can polish a day after a car has been painted as long as there is no fillers in it. No glazes or lsp's for atleast 4-5 weeks.
Polishing is not a problem, just dont put any wax or sealant for at least 2 months, since the clear can take from 30 to 90 days to fully cure.
Hmmm, no polishing fresh paint? What do you think body shops do to remove runs, orange peel, dust nibs, fish eyes, etc.?
Body shop safe only mean that the product doesnt contain silicones or that the silicones it contains ( if any) arent volatile enough to contaminate the shop. Using bad silicones in a body shop can cause major contamination problems that will cause fish eyes when we apply paint. I.e a simple spray of armor all in a body shop will cause paint contamination for days if not weeks! So unless your are using the product inside a body shop....body shop safe doesnt mather at all
