I was wondering what other products besides Opti Lens are available for protecting/sealing headlamps.

This came up as I was at the autoparts store to do an oil change and saw a product called Blue Magic Headlight Sealant. I know nothing of it, didn't buy it, but was curious as this seemed to be more of a sealant than a coating like Opti Lens. Without a doubt it won't last as long as Opti Lens, but I'd like to try something else before I do the Opti product as I will be using this for personal use and don't mind reapplying several times throughout the year.

What else are you using to seal your headlamps? From coatings to sealants.

I have Sonax Net Shield, thought about trying that.

And to tag on a rookie a question, can I treat my rear turn lights the same as headlights? Both plastic, makes sense to me.

From my understanding any wax or sealant will protect them, except you would be missing the UV protection that is needed to prevent them from yellowing. The specific headlight protection products usually have some UV protection, but not all of them.

Will keep my eye for UV stuff.

Honestly, for me it is opti-lens, or a rattle can of uv blocking clear coat and just keep waxing it as normal. I can tell you from families cars, if you sand and correct, then clear coat the lenses and never do anything else, no washing or anything...a spray can of clear will protect for over a year before yellow returns.

I've just always used whatever wax or sealant I was putting onb the paint. Haven't noticed any yellowing so far.

Id be afraid of over spray when clearing from a rattle can.

If this is an old car that is going to need the lenses corrected before protecting then I would go the Opt-Lens route. If this is a new car then I would just do whatever sealant is on your car at the time. Our Fusion was built October of 08 and we purchased it April of 09. I have always had Opti-Seal or whatever was easy for WOWO and my headlights look as good as the day I bought the car minus a few road rash spots.

I've always used Power Lock. As a matter of fact, so does the detailing department at my local BMW dealership. Has worked great over the years.
