Sunday night, after a three day weekend of detailing my white S2k, I come on the forums ready to share my experience with the community's first pictures of Swissvax Glacier and what do I see? Phil [detailersdomain] beats me to the punch and posts a beautiful writeup of his work with a white s2ki topped with Glacier! How am I supposed to compete with that?! :worship2: Unfortunately I was hosting some friends this weekend and I couldn't get a full load of pictures while I was pressed for time, but I would like to share what I do have! Of course, this car was in much better condition than my gf's car. After a wash with CG CGC paint cleansing concentration, I only spot clayed a couple spots on the car and decided to go with 106FF with the UK 3M blue pad. The soft paint certainly allowed me to finish down very cleanly. Compared to my previous experience with M105, I am much more comfortable with the work time of 106FF. I also love the minimal dusting and easy buff off. This is the first time I've used a rotary on my car and I'm proud to say I was able to remove more than 95% of the defects! It turned out beautifully. On the first day I was able to do a wash body/wheels, wash/protect the top, single pass of polish, dress the trim, IPA wipe down, and wax in about 6 hours. The second day was spent strictly on the interior and that took another 4 hours. I'm very happy with what I was able to accomplish in 10 hrs. As phil mentioned in his glacier s2k writeup, it really is very difficult to photograph white. I would say the wax definitely does not look plasticy like a sealant, but it doesn't have a carnuba glow either. I guess I would call it warm... Swissvax is true to their word and there must be brighteners in the wax. When in the sun there is absolutely no way you can look directly at the car without sunglasses. I hope I don't cause a traffic accident or get a ticket for blinding people with my car. :thumb:
Lovely s2k! I see PC's on the ground. What kind of cart is that? I was actually thinking of purchasing a cart as well but don't really have space for it at the moment.
haha what are the odds of that. The one time Phil steps away from using the regular CR and he does the exact same car and color. Good job on the car anyway
It's actually the cart that costco.com sells. Neither of my cars are very large, so I was looking for something that could get shipped free to me and this fits the bill. It's actually pretty cheap and fits all of my products. Now I just need to find a place to store all of my towels and pads! Costco - Arcan Service Cart with Locking Drawers
Surprised by rain while driving around last weekend, first time I've had a chance to test out how well Glacier beads. I know how you all are beading junkies.... btw, Swissvax claims "They feature a highly dirt-repellent formulation and fight those ugly black runs after a rain on the paint." They are somewhat able to live up to their claims that it doesn't create streaks. The back end of my car gets a lot of road dust/dirt. When the water beads shake off of the car while driving, most of the dirt seems to be easily washed away. The dirt doesn't seem to easily bond or stick to the paint. I often accidently get a black smudge on my khakis because I brush past the car. Actually, since applying Glacier I have only washed the car with the foam lance because I haven't found that dirt bonds to the paint within the 2-3 weeks between foamings. The only place it wasn't able to wash away the dirt after the rain was on the verticle face of the trunk and on top of the rear bumper. There is this ugly blob of black dust. It comes off very easily, but tarnishes their claim. All in all though, I'm still very happy with the wax.
