Hey everyone! I think I have everything I need to start a mobile detailing business. Heres a breakdown..... 6.5 HP Shop Vac Mytee Lite 11 Carpet Extractor 10X20 Ez up tent all cleaning products and protectants ( After doing a little research, I think Im going to start off with 'DP', Pennicle, Dimondite, and Wolfgang products.) About 20 microfiber towels, cleaning tools, brushes, etc.... My question is.... Is it better to buy a premade mobile setup or make my own? Ive been searching everywhere for a mobile trailer but they all seem to be out of my price range. Right look.com has some awesome looking trailers, but wanting around 7k for it. I found one on ebay, detailking or something, they want 2500, which is more reasonable, but dosnt look as professional. Ive been searching allofcraigs.com and found some, but of course they are used and Im not so sure I want a used rig.... Im really interested in this "dynamite big dog detailier" at perfectioncarcare.com, its just the power washer, hose and reel and water tank... What do you guys think???? Also, if any suggestions on building my own, How do I do this, what do I need, will this dinomite package work?? Thank you guys! :mounty: Links Bigdog Dynamite Detailer Pro Package Auto Detailing Equipment Car Wash Detail Detailing Trailer Pressure Washer - eBay (item 120477644264 end time Sep-01-10 11:05:56 PDT) The Trailer King Online!
My instinct is to keep cost as low as possible when first starting out, in case business doesn't take off. Hopefully things do well and you can add large items like a trailer down the road a bit. Don't have any experience with DP, wolfgang etc... maybe others will chime in. just my $0.02. Good luck How long have you been detailing and how many cars would you say you do a week?
Before you start in your business have all the necessary permits processed. You can also check with your local government for agencies that can help you with your business. And before buying your equipment be sure to research the internet for product specifications and comparisons.
Just like with anything in life you will come out much cheaper buying a used unit. Let someone else take the initial hit :cig:
Tell us a little more about the type of budget you are working with and what your goals are and we can help guide you in the right direction. I personally wanted to get a trailer from Rightlook as they make some very nice units. Do you have a truck to pull the trailer? Are you looking for a covered trailer or open trailer design? You planning to do bulk work? How far do you plan to travel? Trailers are great but remember you will probably need extra insurance to cover it, it is one more thing that will require a little maintenance and it will definitely contribute to you eating more gas lugging around another 3,500lbs which will all need to be factored into pricing. Anyways . . . . let us know what you have in mind and we can help from there.
