Got a mean scratch on my car today, so I finally decided to do a test on how to take out a scratch (or more like a chip) on my mom's car. She had touched it up before I had gotten to it, so she hadn't filled it in properly (or thinly w/multiple layers) she had just put one big gob! So after I tried to sand it out, this is the result: That ring around the chips, is that a sign of no clear? Thanks in advance for any help!
O and here's a pic of the scratch on my car that I'm gonna try to tackle after I get my technique down...
On the scratch that you're trying to polish out, does it catch your fingernail? If it does, don't bother. It's too deep. And invest in a PTG...
I too would have to agree and it looks like the you've burned the clear coat, I did this on my rust bucket Jeep. The colour of the area with no clear seems like a different shade of colour.
hmm...okay so what do you suggest if it is too deep? just leave it alone? i was thinking of touching up the paint very finely...well within the scratch and not too much. I possibly will try out a chip repair kit (langka?) so that i'll do less sanding.
