Hi everyone, i have recently bought a brand new car and it will be arriving soon. The colour of the car is Ibis White from audi whose paintwork has been known to be hard to polish. I was wondering if anyone has any good advice in maintaining the paint work and also bringing a better shine to it. Currently using - AG: Super resin and extra gloss protection - P21s : Auto Care Set - Wheel cleaner, bodywork conditioning shampoo, Gloss enhancing Paintwork cleanser and the concours-look paste wax. All these are currently being used on my old dark green car. Im kinda new to Detailing and understand the whole thing. If anyone could help me out... like recommend me products for - washing, protection and durability and most importantly "The perfect shine" :mounty: Im planning to buy the Swissvax leather care range for the interior. Im from Melbourne Australia - <rough idea on the type of weather> Thanks Kog3n
My neighbor has the exact same color on his Audi, I believe he's on this board as well but doesn't post that often. He gave his Audi the full Zaino treatment and I've never seen a wetter finish on white!
Wash wise.... It matters not really what shampoo you choose, but what does matter is using the two bucket method (and pre-foaming if possible) to make your wash stage as safe as possible to avoid putting marks into the Audi paint which will be a nightmare on white paint to remove. Something like Meguiars Shampoo Plus would be nice - good slick wash solution, and great value for money You already have SRP and EGP - dont throw it out. Use the SRP to prep you paint and follow it with a couple of layers of EGP for a very durable finish... SRP works well on all colors, and leaves a good finish when used properly: small areas at a time, and thoroughly work each section for a minute or so at least to work the light abrasives in the polish. EGP adds a little extra gloss to this finish and is highly durable. You could top this off if you like with a wax for added protection and a little extra... on light colours I really like Collinite 476S as it seems to leave a little extra bright gloss which suits light colours and it is also highly durable too. Zaino mentioned above would also be a very good option.
Thanks guys for the input... Would u recommend using the SRP thou?? Since its fresh new paint.. Would it be too abrasive/ harsh for the new paint? I was thinking just using the P21s Paintwork cleanser for the job to prep the surface. Thanks for the reply.....If anyone else got more advice and the types of products they are using i will be all ears for it Kind regards, Kogenx
SRP is only very very mildly abrasive so is perfectly safe on new paint - the majority of the correction it achieves is by filling. P21S Paintwork Cleanser would also work, but watch for bonding issues if planning to use EGP following it as it can streak and not bong properly following certain products, most notably oily ones.
Yes, Zaino really makes white look awesome. I did a friends white Z06 with Zaino and the shine was incredible.
First of all, welcome to DB! Even with a brand new car, I always recommend using a clay bar. You won't believe what kind of contaminants are on the car as well as a nice change in color when its done. You will definitely be able to see the difference.
Thanks Dav ^_^ Wow thanks for the picture P1et.. Have you got more pictures by any chance =p. Tod071- Clay Bar.. would there be any brand of clay bar in particular that u would recommend? Zaino products i have yet to try. Ill give it a shot once my stock has finished
