So wait, there's no more "unlimited" anything any where? This is absolute rubbish! Japan has free Wi-Fi nation-wide...

What about me, who gets my internet right from Videotron (cable internet here in the east)?

applies to the whole canada. you will be charged for overcharge as long as videotron gets charged for overcharge by the lines they lease.

you should be more concerned about the FCC taking it upon themselves to start regulating all internert content worldwide

I'm scared of that happening but it could become reality.

But man i dont think it's fair to charge bandwith and whatnot.

If costs must go up it should be done by usage. I do not like it much either but it is fairer that those who use the most should pay the most.

    A flat rate sounds socialistic.

WRONG! Dont fall into the trap! Their types of networks can support 300gb/month of usage. NO ONE will pay less, everyone ends up paying more and I end up paying almost 3x as much now... Everything is moving Digital and Netflix just came to Canada and with only 25Gb/month- a JOKE! we cannot do anything other than basic web for that price.

that is another point of view but when the bandwidth cost is practically 0 for the ISP, they're simply pushing costs to consumers to increase their profits.
Its also the digital age where everything is streamed on the internet, from movie services like netflix, game streaming services like playon, digital content distribution like itunes that this hurts everyone. You're paying for mileage ontop of the gas is an analogy used by someone which i believe is quite true.

Sorry. Many have fallen in the trap. They have been addicted to no cost bandwidth.

This is a common business trick. You lure people into something and then eventually they start charging for what something things is for free.

Corporations know this by subdizing low costs to build a base and then start raising prices as people get addicted.

How do you see this: $150+ cable bills, $100+ phone bills, etc.

Oh...so wait, if I got this right, I will only pay more if I go OVER what my plan allows? If that's the case, then I already pay like that. I never go over my limit of course, but still. So basically, the way "around" this is by simply getting the next Internet plan up, making sure you won't go over your allowed bandwidth usage.
