It's pretty much the only reason I go to Autopia now and again. The business and marketing section. Any chance we can add one.
Business and management? You wash a car, you dry a car. You polish a little bit, then slap some wax on there. What else is there to it? :yikes:
Off the top of my head- 1. Raise finance and stay within its limits 2. Write and adhere to the business plan 3. Maintain sufficient Insurance Cover 4. Cash Flow Plan & Monitor 5. Establish Credit with suppliers 6. Ensure sufficient detailing supplies, check and update stock 7. Establish a Marketing Plan 8. Set up a client list (computer) and book subsequent details by reminders and etc ...
On the Autopia site there were discussions about books, etc. and I came across the following book on Amazon, but you can probably purchase it anywhere, called; Start your own Automobile Detailing Business by Entrpreneur Press and Eileen Figure Sandlin I found the book to provide a good overview of what's needed to start and maintain a business. The book included sample marketing pieces, cost sheets and general information needed. Although most of the book would be common sense, it still provides some good items for discussion and or inclusion in a business plan. As for help in creating a business plan, I found a template at ??????????????????????????, which I believe is a non-profit group which helps start-up companies.
I guess you are not allowed to enter/reference websites, so PM me and I can provide the SCORE website where I found the template.
i have read many business books, but lack a lot of online marketing knowledge that some of the members on autopia have, probably lots on here to however there is no place to put it. I am not looking to promote anybody's web business but some of the tips from the pros have been excellent and work. Even the most basic stuff can be a help, although I may have been in the business for a while there are others that can benefit from what Jon stated above. Even small tips can be gold.
I think that its hard to implement here. Pros pay for the exposure here, where as autopia just lets anyone post as a pro.
