I did this car last week.

It is a 2006 model BMW 318 Diesel and very well equiped, I'm not that familiar with BMW's equpment program, but so far I've only found Xenon in the headlights as the "missing link".

It has lived a rough life in machinewash with brushes almost everytime it hade been washed, and with 85.000km and still counting that's a LOT of swirls and RDS. And the new owner now wanted help to get rid of the inperfections in the paint.

The colour is Saphire Black, but looked almost as silver grey when it arrived.

The new owner has done some small modifications with BBS LeMans 8,5x19 and 235/35/19 Toyo's in front and BBS LeMans 11x19 and 265/30/19 Toyo's in the rear and also a KW Var 3 Gewindefahrwerke. And M-Tech parts is soon coming from the paintshop.

This is what I had to deal with:

    Rims:

The rims got some P21S US Version:

And the over to Mac Prickbort Degreaser:

And after this I foamed the car with KCL Auto Shampoo:

After foaming and rinsing off with Foma HPW I washed the car with Optimum Car Wash and a green washmitt from CG..

    And then some inspectionshot...

    OHHH HAPPY DAYS:

This was the end of day 1 and I was pretty facinated over the paint and how bad the condition actually was.

    Day 2:
I'm still pretty facinated over all the heavy swirling on this one, hopefully the owner is aware of that his car is actuelly black and not silver :giggle:

I then clayed it with Scholl clay and Optimum No Rinse:

The 318D emblem had to go:

I then wiped of the tape and glue leftovers with 3M Citruscleaner and a clean MF:

And then it was time to test out some different combo's, I started out with Scholl S03 Gold and a yellow Scholl cutting pad. In the begining I also used Scholl wool pads, but ran out of them and i didn't bother to clean them up:

I also did some measuring with my PTG, and either the paint on this is preatty thin or it has been "detailed" before, I place mye bet on alt 1:shead: I removed in an average between 3 and 6 MY but some places it was around 10 My because of heavier scratches:

Oh yes, and some 50/50 shots :headbang::

The shots from above is the drivers side of the car..

I then taped up a small area in the hood:

After some Scholl S03 Gold and Scholl wool:

This was the end of day 2, so I pacjed up my stuff and drove home for a good nights sleep :)

    Day 3:

    And the scratchhunting continues:

    Before:

    After:

And then suddenly it popped up some more 50/50's:

And then it was about time to get the car up in the air for easier compounding on the lower panels:

The rims where in bad shape, so I tryed out around 10 different wheelcleaners to get the rims nice and clean.. I found out that the guy who painted them didn't mask up the backside of the rims. It was clean but still a lot of paint stuck to the rim:

Done with Scholl S30+ and a orange Scholl pad on the right side:

    The roof was compounded:

The hood is done with Scholl S30+ and a orange Scholl polishing pad, I also had to use green Uber and a blue Sonus pad, since the rest of mye Scholl pads was at home in the laundry:

After the finishing stage I spritzed on some Scholl CF02(Wipedown) to get rid of the oils and dust after compounding and polishing:

The leather seats needed some TLC with CG Leather Cleaner and a Swissvax leather brush:

Unfortunatly I don't have any finihed pictures of this, but I'll try to take some later.. I treated the leather with Swissvax Leather Milk and Leather Master.

Today's waxchoice was Swissvax Blau Weiss:

    Swissvax Pneu on the tyres:

    And then after the buffing:

And some "stickers" and a new licenseplateframe:

And this is how the car looked at 05.10 AM on a Saturday morning:

The paint was pretty hard, but the biggest challenge was all the RDS that popped out after getting rid of the heavyswirls. But after all, a good experience :kilt:

    Thanks for looking.

What a stunner, beautiful example of what a proper Touring can look like. I hope these start becoming more popular in the US...

Gorgeous work cleaning this one up, I couldn't believe some of the before and afters.

Thanks for such a nice comment Piet :) I also like the look on this wagen, he also removed the roofrailing for a cleaner and lower look :)

Lights, drop, wheels. It's really all you need to create a head-turner!

Supber work. I absolutely love this car, and I think once I am fortunate enough and I have gotten all the use I can out of my Mazda3 hatch I will pick one of these bavarian beauties up and do pretty similar mods.

Bernhardt..the wagon looks great. I just finished a 2005 330i that I will probably post tonight. The clear was hard as granite on it. I had to use a 3M wool pad and Menz PG...M105 with the wool wouldn't even cut it!!

That car was in some rough shape, nice work!

What did you use to get the badge decals adhesive off? I have had to resort to a 3m adhesive removing wheel and that still took time...

Thanks you, I'm very satisfied with the 50/50's, specially since I don't have a clue how to take good pictures :)

    Thanks
