Best paint safe detailing brushes for panel crevices

I always want to wash the crevices on my white car, but I am so afraid of creating swirls that I have to fix later. Can you guys recommend a good detailing brush that is safe on car paint? Any thought/review on Race Glaze detailing brushes? Thanks guys.

 

I have the SV brushes I purchased from Phil. They are several years old and still running strong. I used them on a black Infiniti that was very prone to marring without issue. I usually spray P21S TAW on the surface or Clay Lube (carwash and water) prior to scrubbing around enblems and crevices.

It works well and is safe.

Any body has comments on the RG brushes vs the SV brushes?

^^ thank you for letting me know the extra options besides brushes. I think they will do a great job.

But I am still leaning more toward a soft brush, just the feeling is better, and I can use one for many areas without having to replace the foam/cloth

 

The SV and RG brushes are very similar. I have beating the crap out of both for a while now and other than the fact that the plastic ferrule ( collar ) on the SV busted after a few weeks, they are both holding up extremely well. As the bristles wear down and become shorter, they actually become better suited for cleaning around emblems. The tips of the bristles on the SV brush feel a wee bit rougher than the RG ones but I haven't had them mar anything so it's a non issue.

 

Also, don't let the SV detail/wheel brushes sit wet. The plastic binding tends to get brittle and crack.

 

If you leave them in the wet the handle gets slimy. I usually rinse them off when I am done & shake them out and put them upside down in the grit guard in the wheel bucket to dry. I also do this with the wheel woolies. Keep everything together and allows for drying.

I think I will get the RG brushes (set of 5), the SV looks very nice, but I can get more brushes for just a bit more of its price.

 

Where do you get them? I see guys using htem in write ups, but they are not for sales by any vendors I use. I mostly buy frm DD, becasue of the service.

 

The best brushes I have found for removing stuff from emblems, crevices, etc., are the SM Arnold small flat china bristle brushes sold here - http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/85-656.html
They used to sell a black bristle and a brown bristle brush but looks like they only have this one now. Notice the price is what - $2.49 ??? Is this great, or what ???
It will totally work, wont scratch, wont start shedding bristles or breaking plastic cheap ferrules like the "high maintenance" race glaze and swiss vax brushes.
And yes, I have both R/G and S/V brands, but really prefer this little one for the purposes stated above.

Great price, but that metal binding is a little scary. I'd wrap that up with some tape before letting it near paint.

You are correct ! The first thing I did to these 1.5" wide brushes is wrap the metal ferrule in black tape. And the metal ferrule will not crack or allow loose bristles to fall out on your work..

OMG....the price is so great on this one, I think I will just get this one to my collection as well. Now I am onto the second part of the challenge of finding a Canadian vendor for it.

If you cant find a vendor that sells SM Arnold, let me know if I can help. Dont know where you live, but believe someone here on this Forum has a Vancouver WA maillbox and he lives north somewhere in Vancouver BC I believe.

Or how about this - its a 1-1/2" wide China Bristle Brush; perhaps a Paint Store sells the same thing up there where you live ?

Either way, let me know if I can help get some to you. Im in Western Washington, about 100 miles south of the Canadian Border to Vancouver BC I believe..

^^ hey Stokdgs, thanks a lot for the offer. I live in Toronto, Canada.

I actually checked out Home Depot here and a few hardware stores, they have very similar brushes, all I have to make sure is they won't mar the paint (now I am off to find a test vehicle).

BTW, I love the people in this forum

 

I was thinking about this today - how about an Art Supply Store, or Billboard Paint Supply Store to find the exact brushes with the very short length??
