Today was my second chance using Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil, and Leatherique Prestine Clean, and I felt it was due time that I share my experience! To me, there seems to be confusion among the different terms in regards to Leather Care. Yes, this is partly due to manufacturers selling "all-in-one products" with exagerated claims. But luckily, Leatherique is pretty straight forward. The Rejuvenator Oil is a rejuvenator, no doubt. It smells very natural, and organic. I wish I've smelled something in the past that was similar...but I can't think of anything. I'd say the viscocity is thicker than, say, Olive Oil, just for reference. I feel that there are 'newer' leather surfaces that can still benefit from this process. A good example is this 2000 Dodge Viper. Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil The seats were first warmed with my halogens to open the pores as much as I could Then the oil was massaged in by pouring a tiny bit on my hands, rubbing them together, and then proceeding to feed the leather surfaces The halogen were used again to further heat the leather as the oil was working... My bottle of Prestine Clean didn't come with a sprayer, so I just fitted a one to the top! Prestine Clean, again follows the same trail of the "organic", "natural" feel/scent of cleaner. This product is very think in regards to viscocity, and sprays extremely well into a fine mist. And, of course, I can't find something in my memory that resembles the scent! A generous spritz of Prestine Clean, followed by a healthy wipe-down with an MF towel pulls away years of dirt and grime. This whole process, although slightly more time-consuming then others, leaves a finish on the seats that is matte, soft, and very very supple. A winner in my book.
Thanks for the review autobahnshine! I'll definitely have a try at this in the near future, hopefully.
I'm hoping other members can try/comment on this great product! You should definitely pick up a couple bottles. The 16oz sizes should be all you would need. Two application barely made an indent in the bottles.
I bought the 32oz bottles to help keep my RX330 leathers in top condition. Hoping it'll last a super long time Great review man!
The idea behind the oil is that it is supposed to draw up the contaminants in the leather and then you clean them off with the cleaner. It's opposite to say Lexol or Leather Masters. I will be getting some from the canadian distributor soon.
I have used my whole 32oz Leatherique Rejuvenator bottle and honestly I thought it was just ok. After about 2 months or so the suppleness seemed to disappear. I just don't think that Leatherique has the same dramatic effect on the newer coated leather cars. As I have seen no dramatic improvement with 4 back to back coatings. It seems like a good and safe product and I did see it "clean" the leather and bring some of the contaminates out, but as far as real "rejuvenation" I think it is just average at best. As of this moment I don't think I would buy it again, and am looking forward to trying the Leather Master line.
I've heard great things about their products. I even recommended it to my boss before I've even tried it!
I don't own anything with leather interiors so I don't know the specifics of leather care but I believe it should be included in a bi-weekly or monthly cleaning. It's not like wax where you should wait and see how long durability of the product is. I've only used Leatherique a few times and have been very impressed. It surely cleans leather well, and I can't imagine someone needing to use this treatment more than a few times a year with maintenance in between. Here are a few pictures that I have of Leatherique: This leather was very very dry and dusty, this is a picture of the Rejuvenator applied to half the seat: And then here is the leather on the 365BB which has 20 something year old leather (after Leatherique treatment):
Sorry for the delayed response. But I did/do monthly maintenance with the Zaino leather products. Honestly after the 4 back to back coatings of Leatherique (each about a month apart) I never saw that much improvement on my BMW leather. Like others have stated these oils will not penetrate the surface of this plastic coated leathers. And trust me I gave them plenty of time to try to "seep in." I left it on for 3 days in warm California weather (and in the sun at times). It just seemed to stay on the surface. So I would just wipe it off with pristine clean. I think using that whole 32oz bottle on just my car was quite a bit of product so I think I gave it a fair chance. I would always compare the treated surface to the "soft spots" on my seats that do not see the sun, and it never came anywhere close to what the leather feels like brand new. I have Leather Master Products now, and I will tell you if they make a bigger difference or not I hope they do. Not that my leather is rock hard I just want them to be as close as new as possible.
Reviving an older review topic here but wanted to share my recent experience with Leatherique Prestine Clean. I've used it on my wife's I35 which has full leather interior and is basically her office on wheels. I'm amazed with how easy this product is to apply, rub in, let sit and then wipe clean. Very amazed at the amount of dirt that ended up in the rinse bucket! Best of all, the Prestine Cleans leaves the leather feeling quite soft and supple. Now I need to pick up a bottle of Rejuvenator!
