Yup, I'm staying up till the middle of the morning to watch the Australian GP. I should probably take out my contacts before I end up following asleep on the couch. :goodn:
LoL, thanks for the heads up! I might watch a little of it but tomorrow I'm going to Infineon Raceway to watch one of my clients race Formula Ford.
I stayed up and watched the race early this morning. I'm a big Kubica fan (helps that I'm also Polish :headbang and had to pick up my jaw off the floor when Kubica and Vettel wrecked at the end of the race. Kudos to Jensen Button! The underdog that pulled off a Ferrari style victory in a new, unknown team. Well, the defunct Honda team... I thought it was a good race to begin the 2009 season. I'm interested in the developments of the USF1 team that is assembling... Yea, I'm an F1 fan :thumb:
That was a great start of the season for the new team Brawn GP. It's about time that a different team dominated qualifying & the race.
I usually miss the races but love watching qualifying ... so much excitement and drama in a short period of time. I find it amazing that in F1 the G-forces sustained while braking is more (from what I''ve heard, I think) than the g's in cornering ... pretty amazing.
Ugh, so the odd blanket of snow we got last night totally knocked out my satellite signal with 15 laps to go. Thank you for the replay SpeedTV! I've been a Kimi Raikkonen fan since the beginning; he filled the void that Mika Hakkinen left behind for me. Unfortunately, that means I have to be a Ferrari fan by default. What a terrible start to the season for the Prancing Horse. Very excited to see how Vettel and Red Bull do this season, if BrawnGP can maintain its form, and hope that Hamilton & McLaren can't improve. I'm definitely NOT a Hamilton fan.
couldnt stay up last night .. i DVR-ed it and will def watch it later today ... so cal is nice and sunny today .. time for a car wash
F1 rules seem to change every year...dont get caught up in understanding. I have no idea how rugby works, either, but its hugely entertaining!
Anyone see the new Top Gear magazine out on the stands now? It's all about the GP this year.. pretty interesting read for sure. I love Top Gear, and Top Gear magazine.
I havent seen that yet...mine hasnt shown up yet! My last months' Top Gear never did show up, I have a feeling someone is 'borrowing' it. Top Gear is my favorite show on TV, and the magazine is one of my favorites...when I do get it. I may have to complain and see if theyll send me a free DVD or some such. New season starts in less then 2 months!!
Well this is a first for me. I woke up this morning and turned on the TV and all I heard was engines revving, the lovely prancing Ferrari horse emblem being plastered on the TV and it caught my attention. Little did I know it was the Barcelona Formula one race  Well I forced my self to watch the entire race and wouldn't you know it by the middle of the race I was actually interested and started to notice the strategy behind the race...oh but what really got me was that right at the beginning there was an incredible crash...what a way to start, I feel for the owners of the vehicles..ect..ect..but it made for a great start of the race :thumb: Then as the race continued, being the Ferrari nut that I am, every time the announcer would mention Ferrari my interest would pick up, they were talking about Ferrari's new technology...um...don't recall what exactly they called it but there was talk about a green button that was supposed to give the engine some kinda boost or something like that  Any who, they were saying that it was going to be very interesting to see how Ferrari did on this raze. Any who, two Ferrari vehicles are in the raze...around the mid point one of the drivers vehicles just gave out...can't recall the drivers name..but must have been a bit of a famous driver because people were making a big fuzz about it...any who raze continues and I'm still watching it and actually enjoying it Well I think there were about 11 laps to go and then the announcers play a conversation between the only Ferrari driver still in the race and the um..not sure if this is the right term but the command centre..well it looked like a command centre there were engineers, dads, girlfriends..ect..ect..in this confined space watching the race..any who one of the engineers (I assume) told the driver he needs to save on fuel as he wouldn't be able to make a pit stop. The announcers commented on that saying that's that was a big gamble on Ferrari's behalf and they went on and on about it...any who there was a car behind Ferrari trying desperately to pass it and the Ferrari driver was doing his best to not let him pass..then another radio conversation is shared and the driver was a bit frustrated and says "..what do you want me to do? I'm trying to hold the position..." Which happened to be 4th place  any who the engineer of Ferrari said that he needed to save gas. Any who at that point I really got interested on the race and actually enjoyed it. Very interesting race and incredible driving skills, not to mention the lovely noise the engines make as they rave up and blow by the cameras :druling: I'm actually looking forward to the next race :thumb: I'll just google it or something like that. Well just sharing, I guess you could add me to the fan section :thumb:
Cool Nica! :thumb: The system you are talking about is called KERS (don't ask me what it stands for). But basically what it does is take some of the kinetic energy the brakes produce to turn a spare generator (alternator) on the engine, and one time each lap for 6.6 seconds they press the "KERS" button and it activates the generator to spin the engine and give it an extra 80hp for those 6.6 seconds. It can also be broken up so they only use a little bit at a time throughout the race. As far as the end of the race.. (disclaimer I love ferrari's but feel they're an over hyped f1 team) what was happening is they didn't give Massa enough fuel in the pit, and Vettel (in the RBR Renault) was consistently faster than Massa the entire race, but only by .1, .2 seconds. And he wasn't able to make the pass until Massa was instructed to let off the pace, so he can cross the finish line. Once Vettel passed Massa, he was turning the fastest lap times the rest of the rest (though no the fastest OF the race). Unfortunately for Vettel, he was stuck behind Massa's slow ass the entire race and couldn't podium. Hamilton is having serious problems with the McLaren.. . He's my favorite, and then Vettel. BTW, was my first F1 race too . I've just been reading my TopGear magazine cover to cover about the 09 season
Ah good info there d00t :thumb: I actually enjoyed my self watching the raze, so much I've spend an hour or so reading a bit about the race. I would have to agree, Ferrari seems to be on a slippery down hill slope..well from what I've read. The commentators kept referring the current Ferrari team to the Shumaker (sorry for brutal spelling) team and how there was no comparison :bla2: :bla2: Any who I enjoyed the race and look forward to the next one and I don't have a favorite besides being Ferrari biased lol...but I was impressed with the driving skills, like all professionals they make it look so easy :worship2:
I'm glad u enjoyed the race Carlos! While I'll always be a Kimi Räikkönen fan no matter what team he's on, this season is so much more exciting than the past several years. I hope Jenson Button wins the Championship, Webber wins his 1st race, and Vettel establishes himself as the next great F1 driver. No need to google it Nica, just go to speedtv.com or formula1.com. Next race is Monaco in 2 weeks...you don't want to miss this one!!!
