It's been a while since i posted up a job, this time its my cousin's brand new 2010 Mercedes Benz C300 Sport. I actually went with her to pickup the car and the paint didnt look bad at all. So i told her to swing by one morning and i would baptize the new car with a proper wash and wax. So everything started well. I foamed up the car with some maxi suds to lift some dirt and the usual. I then hand washed the car with CG CWC to get rid of any sealant or wax the dealership could have used. This is where my whole day was just crushed. WARNING the defects seen below are almost unacceptable on a benz. I took pictures of only some parts of the car. Also sorry for the lack of pictures my camera's card got messed up somehow and some pictures were corrupted, these are the ones i managed to save. We agreed I would have to work on the car at a later date with more time to correct all the damage. I suspect the dealership used some type of glaze on the car as I didnt see the scratches or defects on the day of delivery (also it was rainy) After pulling the car out and taking pictures I realized the hood had buffer trails and swirl marks :gross: I was so upset when i saw this. I think seeing that ruined the whole detail for me. :thud: but anyways life goes on ill fix all of that some other day. for now enjoy the sleekness and wet look from the Rainforest Rub :thumb: as always any and all comments are welcome
thanks, and actually long story short one of the a hole salesmen had been using it as his personal car for a while, my cousin had bought it with 700 or so miles so she got a good deal on the price. I would never put up with that, but thats just me.
thanks ill be looking into doing that if all else fails. just have to get ahold of something to practice wet-sanding on. Haven't done so on clear coat so I'm a bit nervous to try it on my cousins brand new car lol
Nice job on the Benz. Wet sanding is no big deal; it's like anything else you haven't tried yet...once you start it and the mystery goes away, you'll say "Boy that wasn't bad at all!" Lots of info here on it anyway if you need. I really like that series of Benz.
Nice work. Benzel Busch is only about 5 minutes away from my main office. I went to high school with the owner's sons and I know one or two salesmen that work there. Most dealerships never prep a car properly when it comes to cleaning the vehicle up. That dealership is no better or no worse than any other dealership.
Looks great bro! On any new car prep, have a heavy stripping solution in the shampoo, because it is almost guaranteed that it is glazed. I know Tropi-care has a strong stripping shampoo that Dust2Glory had some if not all the input on that should be perfect for these kind of jobs, well in all reality all paint correction jobs where you need everything removed to inspect the paint.
I'm shocked to see the new benz's look like that, my buddy got a 2009 C300 in white as well and it didn't look that bad brand new. But, nice turn around man, you brought the shine out, good job. :applause:
thanks for all the comments :thumb: i really like how this wax gave it really god depth and color. still unhappy about the dealership's buffer trails and swirls
Shame to see such a good looking vehicle be in such harsh shape :shakhead: I agree though it seems like that vehicle sat on the lot for quite some time, that stuff on the roof looks interesting almost looked like heavy water etching it also looked like clear coat failure...but it's one thing looking at a picture and it's another standing right in front of it...any who vehicle looks good :thumb:
thanks thanks carlos and yeh its def not water etching as the defect felt raised to me, looked like when people try to cover up a rock chip or defect with clear nail polish and they try to sand it down. but i dont think they actually did this....maybe they used clearcoat from a touchup pen lol
