This client has been driving back and forth to his winter home for the past few months and had acquired a few new scratches he wanted dealt with. As it was to only get a single stage correction, I broke out the Menz Power Finish again. Engine and jambs cleaned with AG Powermax3 Truck foamed with straight AG Powermax3 with a shot of PB Super Slick & Suds for extra foam Washed with PB Super Slick & Suds and Raceglaze sheepskin mitt Dried with Waffler towel from Werkstat No clay this time as client just wanted unsightly scratches removed. Will clay in the spring. Polished with Menz Power Finish and a variety of pads including, LC German Green, 3M UK Green, LC Orange and Menz Compounding LSP was Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection x2 incl all jambs Exhaust polished with Autosol, Leprechaun Finishing polish and Sealed with Blackfire All Metal Sealant Wheels got PB Wheel Sealant and Blue Dew Tire Dressing Interior wiped down with AG Interior Shampoo All glass cleaned with AG Fast Glass Leather cleaned and conditioned with Lexol Total Time - 13 hours One dirty 09 Infiniti QX 56 I've got some work to do on this. Good grief. Interior wasn't bad. Not great, but not bad. Cleaning around all edges, seams, emblems etc with natural bristle paint brush and Powermax3 After shampooing engine with Powermax3, it was dressed with AG Vinyl and Rubber Care Foam? You're soaking in it! Interior after a good vaccum and wipedown After moving inside, we got some lights on it. Nasty. Edge of drivers door when people don't use the door handle to close the door. Even more scratches Bird poop etching 50/50 of drivers door Drivers door before... and after. Noone seemed to know how this happened?! Healthy readings - especially for an Infiniti Menz compounding pad. Kinda like polishing with a pumice stone!! Most of the damage came out but a few rids remained as I wasn't willing to polish on the edge here much more. The left pillar has been polished, the right has not. Nasty. All gone. As before, trying to get all of this out would have been a little risky because of all the prevailing edges present. A few scratches all the way down the passenger side. Now they are gone. Out came the Mytee Lite for a little shampoo work. Shampoo water Engine all finished and wiped down After 2 coats of Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection Finished interior Fuel filler door waxed as well. As a sidebar, it should be noted that the areas where I had to use a compounding pad with the Power Finish did not need a going over with another pad to clean up swirls and holograms. Even after using the Menz Compounding pad and 3M Green Compounding pad, the Power Finish finished down completely swirl and hologram free, even under the scrutiny of the 3M Sun Gun. Thanks for looking.
How can you get multiple deep scratches like that on the rear fender and not know how they get there? How much clear was removed to correct that spot? Good work on the exhaust tip. :thumb:
Ken, outstanding job! :applause2: Really well done. Man do I love me some Power Finish. I've got a question about the door pillars. How did you go about doing that? I'm always fearful that I'll hurt the rubber gaskets around where the windows come up and down, so I wuss out, and use my PC on them.
Well done ken and you made quick work of this vehicle :applause: :applause: That vehicle had some serious scratches :shakehead:....aren't the Menzerna pads fun to use, completely different feel to any foam pad out there huh, it took me a wile to get used to the Menzerna pads but they sure do come in handy. Oh by the way the exhaust tip finished off extremely well, well done :thumb:
Excellent work! I envy you guys with snow in the background. But I don't know about detailing in it LOL!
That came out great!! Nice work :thumb: That paint was hammered. Make me interested in Power Finish now.
Nice Turnaround.... Question: I noticed that you stated you didn't clay the vehicle, but performed some polishing. Isn't there a chance of potentially marring the paint if there were / may have been contaminants on the surface? NewB
The rubber in the center of the two door is actually attached to the b-pillar itself so it was easy to tape off. This allowed me to keep the polisher away from the gaskets on the outside edges because I could slide the polisher over the centre a bit. I was using a 4" pad as well.
Very Nice correction work Ken. What was the outside Temp, you must of froze your @%$@ off. I'm sure that job was a pretty penny..
