Been about 2 months since I detailed this GT-R. I did a one step polish then 1x Menz Powerlock topped with 1x SV Insignis. I was excited during the wash to see the beading/sheeting/durability of the prior protection after 2 months....I was startled because the beading/sheeting wasnt all that good - but still pretty decent. At the end when we were scheduling more maintenance washes he told me that he basically goes to the self-wash car wash religiously. I was like "wow, dude...." He laughed and said he even uses the brush scrubber thing. I set him straight on that though :thumb:. I also gave him some CG Glossworkz shampoo for the body and CG Maxi Suds w/ halved uber sponge for the wheels for when he washes his car. Hope that helps the car wash crisis! Haha no that was him! I didn't notice and swirls or marring during the detail, as its hard to see defects on that paint color in normal light. He is thinking about getting a 2010 M3 sometime soon and he mentioned that I might need to do another 1 step correction if needed. So I'll see then!
Psh I wouldnt want to waste Insignis. I put it on then, trust me! But like I said earlier---- youre just jealous you cant feel up a beast like the GTR
great detail mate, you love your insignis i see a colour like that would have been a good opp to try the Blackfire Wet Ice process i rekon im thinking about trying the P21S polishing soap too. These cars run super rich and each wash i see the accumulation of small carbon deposits inside the tips that needs Opt Metal Polish to remove. Id imagine i could quickly run the P21S inside the tips while im zooming around the car washing the lower skirts ps: that sounds great i have my mid pipe just waiting to go on - like that vid shows, all you really need is a straight through mid pipe with stock muffler and it sounds great - Nissan kill the sound with a resonator + 2 cats in the oem mid pipe for emissions but with our aussie dollar heading back up i decided to pull the trigger on the Garage Active full ti exhaust out of japan to go with it have to wait for it to be manufactured though http://www.gtrblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/garage-active-002-540x405.jpg
I'm so proud of my Insignis. But it's like gold so only exotic or extremely high end cars will get it. I have a surprise car coming up in a few weeks that will get it When I first detailed it I was thinking about 2 coats of Powerlock. That would have looked pretty good too. Yeah the polishing soap is great. It's VERY durable and has the oh so slight cut to it that does the job when getting off the exhaust junk on the tips. I put a coat of JetSeal on so next time I can use some light APC or something to get it off quicker and easier. I did notice some specs of the carbon deposits though. Thats why you wanna protect the tips before more can form and stick. Yeah Mike was saying that about the midpipe too- they killed it with the cats and resonators. I saw that huge hunk of metal was sitting in the garage leaning against the wall. Dude that exhaust pic looks sickkkkkkkk. But one thing I dont think I'm a big fan of is the blueish color on the edge of the tips. Why do they do that???? :shead:
when you heat titanium it gives off that blue tinge alot of ti exhausts (and there really are only a handful of japanese manufacturers that make the exhausts for amuse, hks, kakimoto, garage active, mines, etc) specifically heat the tips to give that look its love or hate, i actually like it as long as it's a subtle blue tint some companies go ott with it because well most tuners love the look, and i guess want to show they have spent x amount more on a titanium exhaust over a stainless steel on the flipside, you have some companies who sell stainless steel exhaust tips that have this tint painted on lol (http://www.rakuten.co.jp/xcely/334193/) re protecting the tips. i tried WG DGS on them and it didnt do anything. i rekon me spraying some CG Orange in there each wash has probably broken it down). im thinking about trying a dedicated metal sealant, but doubtful itll stand up to the high temps
