Hi guys, Let me start by saying this is one of my favourite (accessible) cars on the road today. Should my Volvo quit on me, I'll start the hunt to find this exact car (G35 coupe in Black). What an awesome car in so many ways. This car was another referral to me, and the owner was a really nice guy. Unfortunately for his car, when he picked it up used, he inherited a car that had some heavy swirling damage, a chipped to death front end, and what we found out later to be a new and poorly painted rear bumper. So the bad news, it turns out that when the new owner picked this up he noticed there was a clear bra on it. How is that bad news? Well, remember how I said the front end was chipped to death? Well the old owner put the clear bra on AFTER all of the damage was incurred, so the front end would be laminated for a while. More bad news, the paint swirling was very obvious just under natural sunlight. If you were to walk by this car from a mile away in a parking lot, you could see the swirling going on. The rear bumper, also looks like it had been repainted at some point in the car's life, as it was a really poor paint job, and it may have been a new bumper all together. The good news? I get to detail it . Even better, the owner of the vehicle decided that 6 hours to wait isn't a long time and waited the entire time for it, no pressure right? Products Used Wash - Foamed with DP Xtreme Foam - Washed (three times, initially, after clay and after polish) with Poorboys SSS Clay - Riccardo Yellow Clay with ONR based lube Wheels - Tires with ARO + Car Wash Soap cut with water - Meguairs Hot Shine Tire Shine - Exhaust tips polished with Blue Magic Metal Polishing Cream Polish - Menzerna SIP - correction and finish in one step - XMT360 for the clear bra LSP - DP Max Wax - For a nice wet black car Before: Bear with me, the pictures are many (around 70) and the ending pictures were shot in low light so I apologize. But I'm going to try to showcase the pictures that tell this story quite well. front end chipped to death UNDER the clear bra trying to catch the paint swirling (top of the fender). Please use your Detailer eyes to extrapolate the swirls shown here to the whole car . top of the door spoiler and trunk DURING:And so it begins... after clay Paint correction before and after: after paint correction, please extrapolate to whole car + 4 - 5 hours later : I apologize we're here so soon, but the sun was quickly setting and all I had was low light (similar to xfactor's g35 detailer). Enjoy: my best try at a before and after: THANKS FOR LOOKING!
wow, im impressed you finished down sip lsp ready, on my wifes g35 i had to hit sip with nano with an lc blue to finish marr free
I agree, the g35 is the best looking Nissan on the road :cig: The previous Owner musta been a real Duffuss to put a clear bra over all those chips :help: You got that baby looking Sweeeet as Candy, great Job :applause:
Aaron..nice recovery on the G...I like them too; I think I have done more G's than any other car. That rear bumper looks awful..even when done, in the pic it looks like it was painted with a brush!!
Wow I love that detail, puts mine to shame. Funny thing both were in similar conditions, his front was chipped to death. 6 hours is quick! I'm guessing you were using a rotary? What polishes and pads were used?
Oh, I thought I commented already but found I did not. Great work. I like your format of the writeup, its very clear. What did you use for the wheel dressing and cleaning besides the claybar?
Looks great. I like the G a lot but after workin at Nissan and driving some M's we have used I want an M45.
I told you, I'm not crazy! I told the owner, that his car (bought used from a dealership) might have rear end damage that he's not aware of, or frame damage. I hate used car dealerships for doing this and lying. I wish they did a good job of finishing it. It finished virtually mar free, that or I'm blind. I kept looking at it under lights, in sunlight, and I was happy, more importantly, the owner couldn't stop saying "wow, my god, i've never...." heh so I mean as long as he likes it i guess...
Thanks for taking the time to look . I used ARO + foaming car wash soap cut with water on the tires, and dresses it with Megs Hot Shine (he wanted the black look).
