How do you guys feel about the Dodo Juice Supernatural wax? I just ordered one of the 30ml sample pots and im kinda excited about getting it, I plan on applying it by hand (paul dalton style biotches) and then buffing with microfiber. how many applications will i get out of a 30ml pot? how many should i put on my car? should i let it cure longer than i let my griots wax cure? I'm gona wash, clay and polish the car before i apply the wax so the paint surface should be pretty clean. does anyone know the actual carnuba content of this wax?
I have a semi biased opinion on sn however i love it. I speak with dodo juice uk (the manufacturer) a lot about an issue that is in short caused by a lot of carnauba content (more then almost any wax on the market). The problem is what looks like holograms apear in the paint due to the oils pooling. This can be avoided by very thin application. We recommend you apply by applicator pad. I have seen as much as 8 and as little as half a car come out of 1 pot... its your usage of the product. However the guy that only did half the car is not protected and does not look better then the other guy who can do 8. I have found if you are layering you should wait about 30 mins and then add the next coat however for the final coat wait an hour (for OPTIMAL results). however It will still look great if it is wiped off soon after application. Its a fun wax! Let us know how you like it!
applying wax by hand only wastes product. You max 10 applications out of 8 oz jar, where with foam applicator you would get 30...
I agree, if you have a limited amount I'd recomend applicator...me personaly I order in bulk so I don't mind wasting a little bit of wax..just a little though :whistle:
Haha! After watching one of your videos where you applied the wax by hand, I understand why you order in bulk, Carlos. You made bare-hand application look like great fun! I think it is refreshing find a detailer who believes "thick is good." Very counter-cultural. Cheers, Al
hahah yea I know I'm the odd one lol...but I just love man handeling the vehicles, so applying by hand for me is a blast and the more I slap on the better I feel hahahahaha I know twisted of me :crasy: but detailing for me is all about having fun :mounty:
Carlos, given your penchant for "thick," sure you must occasionally encounter times when you find the wax difficult to remove or experience problems with streaking, etc. Can you share some tips on how we newbs might deal with these problems--no matter how hard we try to apply waxes thin, thin, thin, we inevitably seem to apply waxes too thick. TIA. Al
well it shipped today! that was fast!! I've actually applied carnuba wax by hand before and it worked out really nice, and i didnt use much more than i would have with a foam pad, I dont know though, this is spendy wax so i may have to do it the less fun way... i hate applicators. does anyone know the actual carnuba content of Supernatural?
Well it depends on the wax, I do get the odd streaking here and there but I normally give the vehicle a final wipe down. When I apply wax to a vehicle, it takes me several microfiber towels to buff off an entire car :lol: when I say several I mean at least 3 Cookie Monsters lol..I don't mind but it depends on the wax I'm using, if it's Victoria (which I love applying nice and thick) I know I can leave it on the surface wile I apply the wax to the entire vehicle and then buff off. Swissvax is even easier to deal with, Zymol waxes are really not that difficult to buff off but you just have to follow there instructions to the "T". The key is to a final wipe down with a good quality quick detailer and plenty of microfiber towels of course :thumb: :giggle: :giggle: you know it :woo: :woo:
:nod: yes I use Zymol Field Glaze, it's the only Quick Detailer I use...well for waxes that is when I'm using a sealant I'll use DG AW :thumb: but other then that those are the only QD I own.
