ok i have two vehicles one black one red, i plan on using the wolfgang 3.0 swirl remover on both and wolfgang sealant my question is what would be the best wax to use over the sealant for those colors? i presently have megs gold class paste wax just wondering if i should go to a carnuba hard or just stay with the megs?
There really isn't a best wax per se. It all goes to how it looks and performs for you really. I don't personally have a red car but all the waxes I've tried for my Flamenco Black Pearl Integra have been pretty good, even the recently tested Riccardo Paste Wax prototype.
Well waxes lately seem to be categorized in different paint category, weather it's an exotic (Ferrari, Lambo..ect..ect) or German (Mercedes, Audi..ect.ect) or American (GM, Ford..ect..ect). Now I personally don't know if this is just marketing at it's best or if it's the honest truth. Having said that I'll give you an example, one of my favorite waxes is called Glazur made by Zymol. Zymol claims that Glasur is meant and should only be used on Porche vehicles...well I've used it on my Lexus, I've used it on Porches...all I can tell is that it looks great on my Lexus and on my Porche however, I will say Glasur seems to be better at lighter colour vehicles...but that's just me. Glasur provides a great worm Carnuaba look that I so much enjoy. So the point is this, it really comes down to what you feel works best for you. There are literally hundred types of waxes...we all have our opinion which is the best wax and if it's worth the price tag they come with, what matters is that your happy with the end result. So if your happy with Turtle wax, by all means keep on using it but if you want to venture out and try something new there is a huge list you can go and try. Some guys here like Souveran, some like Chemical Guys' waxes, others like Swissvax....your going to get a huge range of feed back here...heck I could recommend the following waxes (in no particular order): Crystal Rock Victoria wax (red one) Zymol Glasur Vintage Well hopefully you get the point. Now if you really want my recommendation as to which wax to use for your black and red vehicles, i would have to recommend Victoria wax (Red one). It' s a great wax and for the price you can't go wrong with it..but that's just my personal opinion. Sorry for the :bla2: :bla2: I tend to do that from time to time :shrug:
I agree with both replies. I think the very first thing you have to consider is how often do you want to wax your vehicles? If you only want to wax it a few times a year, I would suggest a couple of coats of sealant or a wax like Colli 476 or 845. If you've got deep pockets, Crystal Rock or Vintage should give you the longevity you are looking for as well. If you don't mind rewaxing often, start with a coat of sealant and top with pretty much any wax. As stated above, Vics Concours(the red one) is nice on red and black. P21s Carnauba Wax one of the best looking waxes for the money but needs reapplication every 4 weeks or so. If your cars are metallic, a couple of coats of Blackfire Midnight Sun will make you pee your pants and will last 3-4 months. This is also the only carnauba based LSP that will NOT mute metallics.
I do not have any experience (yet) with waxes that cost more than $20 a tub or bottle; but if you want to stay within the Meguiars' line, then you might want to consider M26, which is deemed by many to be the best of the Meguiars' waxes and one of the best waxes for the money; however, it does not contain cleaners (unlike Gold Class or NXT), so it should only be applied to a properly prepared surface. I also note that Detailer's Domain, which sells Lusso Oro, is now offering a 25% off sale. I wish LO had been on sale last week when I ordered my microfiber towels. One day I hope to see my Luthien dressed in an expensive wax. Hmmm, which one would I choose? Based on the judgment of the DB experts, I think I would chose Vintage. thanks everyone for the feedback while i don't mind spending a little money on wax i'm also not going to remortgage the house...i had already thought about the ps21, but i thought there were better choices for dark colors.... but i maybe wrong...thats why i'm a newbie....lol
Here is a Merc S550 I did earlier this year with 2 coats P21S on it. This is the original P21S, not the 100% Carnauba.
