i found this trying to look for a rack at cosco.com and what do you know CR Spotless at a great price.. must buy...??? i'm really thinking hard about this.. Costco - CR SPOTLESS De-ionized Water Filtration System
A while back these were on Costco.ca for 99 bucks. I was always interested in purchasing one but honestly couldnt see myself paying $400 for one. Well after using it a couple times now I wouldnt hesitate to buy one for $400. This thing will save you alot of aggrevation and time. Money well spent!!
 these units are the best units in the market, worth every penny. When Costco had them for $100.00 I purchased four of them, three of them are gone but one remained for me :giggle: now I have two of these units :thumb:
Yep, I'm definitely enjoying my CR. I'm glad I don't have to deal with my ridiculously hard water anymore. It's definitely a big relief and a huge time saver.
I've used these units before and they are AMAZING! Imagine washing a car in the burning Texas sun whilst flooding it down with hard water. NO WORRIES!!!
whaaat!! when did it happened when they sold this for $100?? thanks guys.. i've been really looking into this stuff for a while and very hesitant because of the price. i was thinking today that maybe after the winter time i'll get one.. especially at that low price compared to other retailers. hopefully the price won't go up.
This was a few months back, some time during the summer. I think it was a mistake from Costco, but I sure took advantage of it :thumb: Ordered four right of the bat, man I spent ridiculous amount on my first unit, the second unit (the one I got from Costco) has the dolly too, something my first unit didn't have. Any who, I some what doubt that we'll see these units for $100.00 again..but you never know
Couldn't agree more! Some of the VERY BEST money I have spent in detailing. I honestly don't think I could detail without mine.
Oh one thing to keep in mind though when purchasing this unit, is that replacing the resins is dependent on how hard your water is within your area. So the harder the water, meaning more contamination within the water, the sooner you'll have to replace the resins within the CR unit. I've purchased a small little drum container of resins, best bang for your ca$h. It's not too expensive either, if I remember correctly about $130 ish or so.
How much of a pain is it to replace the resin in the cartridge? Im a long way from having to replace it but was just currious. By looking at the bags of new resin im sure its going to be quite a messy job.....
lol...yes it can be..this is my low tech method of doing it. I empty the old resin out and once the containers are empty I give them a good rinse. Then I put them back inside the blue containers. Once inside, I get some sort of newspaper or some kind of paper, preferably something that will be a bit sturdy (this is the low tech I'm referring too). Then I scoop some new resins from my small drum of resins and I use the newspaper as a funnel and dump in the new resins. As I fill the canisters with new resins I give it a good shake to make sure the new resins are being compacted accordingly...just a shake don't get carried away as you don't want to have the resins fall on the ground on you. Trust me I've spilled some new resins on the floor and just about cried, stuff is priceless to me  Any who that's what I do, oh I did try using a proper funnel before but it took for ever for the resins to go through the funnel. So now I just use an old newspaper and I make it into a funnel, like I said very low tech but it's been working for me
$100 for a set? Man I wish I could have jumped on that deal. Learning about this kind of product is a godsend, it's hard in florida to prevent waterspots during the wash stage, lots of sun + heat and to top it off some very hard water ratings in the area, and I'll definitely be investing in this in the near future!
do u guys actually let the car air dry? or do u use a leaf blower, or go ahead and dry with ww mf or the like? just curious. ard
Well I still use my air compressor and a waffle weaved micro fiber towel to dry the vehicle, but that's just me
When this deal was on people speculated that it was a mistake (I sure thought it was). Anyway, I called them to ask about it and was assured it wasn't a mistake. The impression I got was that the ones they sold were promotional models used by Gilmour to promote their quick connects/shut off valves, etc; so the price would have been higher in store than the regular CR, so no one bought them. Kind of a fire-sale I guess. Anyway, I got a couple also, great units. Now that I have one I do think it's worth the full price, though I don't know if I'd have bought one at that price.
