Collinite Beading

It was raining all day today & when I went to my car after work & this is what I found & since I happened to have my camera in my car, I thought I would snap few pics.
FYI, I had applied Collinite 915 + 845 + 476s (1 coat each & 1 month apart)









Yes, I always wax the glass including windshields.

 

cool. I waxed sunroofs before, but not other glass, because I clean it so often. I guess it would be easier to maintain, since you can QD the whole car, instead of pulling out the glass cleaner afterwards.

People at work know which vehicles are mine by the beading lol I think it's funny others just think it looks good lol.

 

LOL.....At my work, people who know me always comment on shiny my car looks, but this winter, I'm sure I'll be hearing about the beading.

 

nice.....i love the way cllinite beads.....if i wasnt all warm and cozy in my house i would go out now and snap a few of our cars....all wearing a couple of coats of 476s for winter....

Actually, about 3 months ago I needed to make a choice beteen 915 & 476s & after consulting with Collinite folks, I decided to buy 915, then I heard lots of rave reviews about 845, which, of course, I ended up buying & about 2 weeks ago I went ahead & bought 476s as well as 885, which I haven't applied yet.

 

Ya, That is some serious beading. Looks great. I have the 885 but have not tried it yet...:thumb:

 

Does wax react different on different paints? I have 476s on my wife's Explorer and althoug the beading is impressive, it's not like what you're seeing on your car...

 

Collinite is wicked with just one coat..and you've got 3!! No wonder it looks so incredible. Nice pics!!

I'll let the experts tackle that question, but bear in mind that my car was prepped with 1 coat of Poli-Seal + 1 coat of Danase Paint Sealant + Collinite 915 + Collinite 845 + Collinite 476s & pretty soon, weather permitting, another coat of Collinite 885.
Mutilple coats of collinite may have something to do with the difference in looks between my car & your wife's.

 

But isn't it only the last layer that you put on either directly on the paint or on a previous layer that will do the beading? Or did I misunderstand that? The Explorer currently ONLY has two layers of 476 topped with two layers of P21S and it looks fantastic!

 

I've always been under the impression that mutiple coats (up to 4) would provide more protection & better beading than if you only applied 1 or 2 coats. In your case, applying 2 extra coats of P21S would explain the difference in beading then.

 

That looks awesome. I still have not tried Collinite, mostly because I keep hearing it mutes flakes.
