I have heard about people cleaning the paint before waxing. Let's say I just polish, then I do a 1:1 IPA Wipedown. Then I glaze it. When will I clean the paint? And is the IPA consider "cleaning". If I do need to clean the paint, what is the recommended product and when to apply it. If you can, list more then one product. I want to make sure I wallet agrees with it. :afro: Thanks! :mounty::applause2:
It can be a few things, IPA wipedown after polishing to clear the paint of any residual polish oils. It can also be a paint cleanser such as Dodo Lime Prime, Swissvax Cleaner Fluid, Zymol HD, WBW Surface Cleanse, list goes on . The paint cleasers are usually used if the car hasn't been polished to take off old wax and contamination.
For a pristine paint film surface after the application of detailer’s clay or polishing, use a chemical paint cleaner (Zaino or Klasse All-In-One) to ensure the surface is clean and the sub-surface is free of any grease or other residue, this will ensure durability
I just used cleaner fluid last night and damn did it add to the car.. i forgot how much cleaner fluid improves the optics all by itself..now today i have to put some js 109 and wax.. i have been saying this for a week but i have been sick.. and i have spent about 8-10 hours polishing and prepping..today is sealant and wax day for sure!!!
thats the main reason i use paint cleansers. Yup they make it so you have a good clean surface for the lsp to bond to ... however a good paint cleanser (not ipa) will leave an awesome look, like waxes each cleanser has its own look but they do add smething to the paint
What are your guys favorite paint cleaner? Swissvax and Dodo Juice cleaner, but anything else? I just got some red moose machine wax to compliment my Sample of Supernatural.
Let's say after I polish, the I do a IPA wipe. Would I glaze first then use a paint cleaner, or vice verse?
a paint cleanser will remove the glaze. keep in mind that many paint cleansers such as SV, zymol, VW, and pinnacle also work as glazes.
My fav is Werkstat Acrylic or Carnauba Prime. Leaves a fantastic finish. Dodo Lime Prime is nice as well but is quite oily and may affect the durability of some sealants.
never tried those two but damn i honestly can;t envision it getting much better than sv cleaner fluid.. the stuff just makes the car soo glossy.. not crazy glossy just an extreme amount for a cleaner.. i was shocked i forgot how much it made the paint pop.. plus it doesn't get any easier to apply or remove..simply as easy as removing BOS. for all of you who have not tried it go out and buy a bottle asap.. you won't be disappointed,,
