Does anybody out there know who makes the lightest rotary? I have a Black and Decker that I have used since 1990 or 91. Same body as a Dewalt. I also have a Flex. I like it a lot. But I would like a light one for times when I am holding a bike fender with one hand polishing with the other.
Dewalt 849 8.25lbs Makita 9927 6.6lbs Metabo 5.8lbs Flex 603 7.5lbs Flex 3403 4.8lbs Dynabrade 4.9lbs Milwaukee 8.8lbs
The Dynabrade weight is a Typo. just so you know. If anyone ever decides to buy one based on weight. Don't know the exact weight. I tried to find the thread to show you. Thank you for a very usefull post...:thumb:
Ya, I thought D&D has one and mentioned it's not a lightweight. He raves about his though..when mine dies, I think that will be its replacement.
It weighs about the same as the Dewalt. When I used Dan's, I really didn't notice a difference in the weight.
Does anyone have the cheapo one from Harbor Frieght tools? What are your thoughts? I thought about getting it to learn with. This is the one: And is 6.6 lbs.... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92623
This is the polisher you get when you buy the System One pkg. I don't know anything about it but if you needed one to practice and then you bought a better quality rotory. You would have a back up. There was a thread on this already and there are cheaper one's out there. That one's o-kay for what it is...Why do you need one for practice buy the one you want. Once you get the feel of the machine you concentrate on others things. Then after a while you will want to try another machine and that will give you two right there.:thumb:
Below is a thread about the HF rotary. In one of the posts I explain that if you can get it on sale locally for $19.99 it is worth a shot. If you have to pay full price for it (plus shipping) I'd just save that money toward a good rotary: http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f12/rotary-practice-5113.html
iirc Cwad has the same rotory ..you might want to shoot him a PM on the same note i beleived it crapped out on him..i have a makita 9227..i'm happy with it to date no problems
well the metabo is the high quality light rotary.. i am sure that's why..i might grab one this upcoming year but i am so happy with my makita..but the weight and style of the metabo are making me drool a lil..plus all the positives.
