Well I had the pleasure to detail the famous Nissan GT-R. Now before I get going my friend wanted the vehicle ASAP so I only had a day with it so I concentrated only on the exterior, the vehicle needed some work in the interior but my friend said I would be able to do a full detail when I visit him. He also didn’t want a full detail because he has entered the vehicle on a race so it was going to go be broken in on a track :thumb: Well On with the show, due to time restrains I had to deviate from my traditional method of posting my details :sorry: First I had to give the vehicle a thorough wash, for this I used the ONR with two bucket method: Once I was done with the vehicle it was time to pay attention to the wheel wells, rims and tires. Seeing as this vehicle is special and to be honest the rims had quite a bit of brake dust already so I used P21S Red version. With the help of the EZ brush the inside of the rims were taken care of: Next up the face of the rims were done up with my Swissvax brush: The calipers also received some attention: The wheel wells were taken care of with P21S Total Auto Wash. The vehicle was also clayed, the clay of choice was Riccardo of course but there really wasn’t much to remove from the vehicle. Now I took paint gauge readings on the entire vehicle and it had plenty of clear coat best part the paint had minor swirls. It had lots of glue reside from the removal of the plastic stickers but nothing that Tardis couldn’t remove :thumb: Well the polishing process was quite simple, a 3M Blue Finishing pad combined with Menzerna 85RD at about 1200RPM with the Metabo. Not really paint correction more like burnishing and trying to get more gloss out of the vehicle. The reason the paint is in great condition is because the dealership never prepped the vehicle, never laid a finger on the paint, wish I could say the same about the interior :shakehead: Well like I said not a real paint correction process um, more like a new vehicle prep work Well once the jewelling process was done it was given a wipe down with Menzerna Top Inspection and on to the LSP. I had a hard time choosing a wax for this vehicle, I originally wanted to use Vintage but I went through all my waxes and thought that Crystal Rock would this vehicle a sharper look and the Rock did not disappoint. First Swissvax Cleaner Fluid was applied next it was time for Crystal Rock: This time I choose to apply Crystal Rock with an applicator: Crystal Rock was left for several minutes, during the curing time I applied DG#105 to all the rims and the tires were dressed with Zymol Tyre. With the help of several Cookie Monsters I removed Crystal Rock and here are the end results: Oh yes, exhaust tips were refined with Autosol and a yellow microfiber towel, no need for steel wool this time around. Now for some pictures of the vehicle outside and it was a gorgeous sunny day too: The pictures don’t do the vehicle justice, but this picture and the reflection it has was mind blowing when I saw it. I was glad I went with Crystal Rock, it added that extra humph that I was looking for. I actually liked the contrast with the rims and the Brembo calipers, I thought it looked nice. Now seeing as I didn’t take that many pictures I made a few videos of this vehicle here is the first one: www.detailingbliss.com/downloads/desktops/2009nissangtr/NissanGT-Rinteriorvideo.mov This video is of my friend picking up his vehicle and he was very impressed with the vehicle but was even more impressed with the gloss the vehicle had, glad he was happy because now the vehicle is off to Torronto: www.detailingbliss.com/downloads/desktops/2009nissangtr/NissanGT-RFinalVideo.mov Well like I said when I laid eyes on the vehicle I didn’t really care for it, but after detailing it and feeling it’s curves I can appreciate the exterior design. Well I had a good time prepping this vehicle and I look forward on seeing the vehicle on the track :thumb: Hope you guys enjoyed the detail....oh and Crystal Rock really made the flakes pop! :cheerl: Oh one last thing, I hope all of you can see the videos. I've been fooling around with Final Cut Pro and a few features here at Detailing Bliss, hope it works. If you can't see the videos please let me know.
Now that I see the car in full view. Thats a sharp looking car. I don't know why people don't like It more. nice detail too...:thumb:
Thank you guys for the kind remarks, very much appreciated. Vehicle turned out better then I expected with the amount of time I had with it and like I said I have a better appreciation for this vehicle. So is it safe to assume that the videos work oke:
Great work Nica! I'm not sure how you can't love this car. I was lucky enough to drive one of the first ones at my old Nissan dealership and I was in love.
Paint looks Great Carlos! I think the car looks good buy not great. I think I like the looks of a 350Z better.
Great job Carlos. Personally I love the looks of the GTR, especially the front end, it looks kind of grumpy or angry even.
Great work as usual Nica and I'll really be looking forward to your interior work next time you get the car. Really enjoy the work you do!
looks great nica, just make sure to tell him if he even thinks of pressing that VDC button his warrenty is gone.
