Was in Stroud today to carry out a machine polish only on this super swirly World Rally Blue, Impreza STi.

I'll apologise in advance for the lack of detailed photo's but at the moment getting the job right is the most important thing.

The owner had noticed some areas where the paint laquer had become opaque and wanted the paint polished, but not a full correction detail, so no plastic or tyre dressing, but I did the arches as they were a little grubby.

Arrived & was greated with what looked like a fairly tidy Impreza.

So got stuck in, with two hits of snow foam, followed buy a good wash & two sessions of Bilberry on the wheels with the Eze Detail brush.

Followed by a session with Dodo Juice "Gentle Grey" clay bar lubricated with water & Meg's Shampoo Plus.

Which left me with a car that was covered in heavy swirling on every panel.

    A few swirls.

    And a few more.

Measured the paint & it was between 91 & 213microns, so clearly some bodywork had been carried out, so extra care needed here on this one.

    Sorry for the poor photo.

Pretty muck the whole car was like this, so a test was carried out on the rear C post.

    Rear pillar 50/50

Plumped for Meg's #83 on an Orange Lakecountry pad, followed by Megs #80 on a white lake country pad & finished off with Menz FF on a white Lake Country pad.

The paint was terribly sticky, as I worked, each panel responded differently. Some were OK with one hit of Meg's #80 followed by Menz FF, some needed 4or 5 hits of Meg's #83 on a Yellow cutting pad, so each panel was a new adventure.:wall:

The worst time was when I was removing the worked polish, it just stuck to the paint needing massive amounts of Meg's LT to anable it to be wiped off without any residue.

Once I was happy with the result I applies a coat of Lime Prime light with soft foam pads on the machine.

Then, had a chat with the owner & out came the secrect weapon, the Dodo Juice Blue Velvet, home made machine stick, which I loaded the pads with.

And on it went, like a dream.

And the end results were a huge improvement, with only the deeper RDS being visible, this was expalined to the owner & he was over the moon with the results, saying he never new the paint was that colour.

Nice to see another cyclo user round here. People really under estimate what the machine is capable of. Anyways, really great work on the Subby:applause2:

First, strip down an old Lynx Africa stick & clean.

    Once clean, reassemble carefully.

Here we can see the filling hole

Loosen the lid of the Dodo Juice to allow for expansion & apply GENTLE heat

Crack a can open & wait

    And wait

Until, we have a nice liquid wax ready to poor

In the meantime the stick has been stood in warm water so the wax flows into it without going solid immediately on contact with the plastic.
