I just purchased a 2005 BMW 525; I'm going to get the wheels refurbed and am considering having them refinished in black. Here is a picture of the vehicle; finish is silver gray metallic.

What is the consensus; would black wheels compliment the vehicle?

I vote for gun metal gray.

Did you know that painted wheels add another 5-8hp at the wheels....lol!!!

It really depends on what kind of black you're looking at...

If I were to have my wheels painted a different color, I'd have them powder-coated and baked.

I agree with H-B, A nice metallic grey would look much better than black.

:pimp:You should just get the spokes darkened to match the tinted windows, then leave the inner area (around the symbol) and outer rim the original colour

I'm not saying they don't look good, i'm just saying that everyone and thier mother has or is getting them. Especially mustang people

IMHO, save your money and buy a new set of rims. a nice set of BBS's does nicely on Bimmers especially with a nice offset for the rear to get a nice size lip.

those rims aren't very stylish regardless if you refinish them.

I second that....The car would look a lot classier.

I agree with GREY GHOST and RAMSUS, get new wheels if you want to stand out. Black wheels ALWAYS look dirty. If you must repaint, I would go the hyper silver that came on the 2002 M5 wheels.

I love BBS's as well but they're a pain when they have too many spokes, LoL.

Black wheels are done with. Frankly, it makes the car look cheap. It is a nice car, it deserves nice wheels.

yes yes they are but I love them

I have a set of BBS Rk's on my Cobra and they are a PITA to clean BUT i am as of now the only person in the SA area that has them on my body style cobra.

This thread has really got me thinking on the whole topic of rims...

I mean, there doesn't seem to be too many colour options when it comes to wheels (outside of the really expensive custom stuff), but there are quite a few ways that they can be finished (ie. matte, brushed, laquered, chrome, low gloss, high gloss, etc.), and the size and actual design of the rim has an almost infinite variety.

It seems like it's just too broad a statement to dismiss an entire colour.

I bet anyone here could find a set of black wheels that would work for them if they looked hard enough... there are just too many choices out there to dislike them all...

    Just my :2cents::whistle:

Yeah, well mine are gunmetal with a polished lip and I think it looks great despite other vehicles that have a similar color scheme. I have yet to find an Integra with the exact same wheels and color on my Flamenco Black Pearl.
