Okey dokey had the pleasure of my good bud Aussie come down after doinh his wifes corsa he decided to have the astra detailed.....Everyone knows Aussie so i wont tell you who he is but the car has been a developement tool for one of the leading Vauxhall tuning companys..The car has also been in the Meguiars hall of fame winning a monthly competition and has featured numerous times in magazine shoots and front cover of total Vauxhall......I am hoping to blast the meguiars winner out of the water with this detail....!!!! So the car when arrived... I decided to go round the car first up with a good citrus degreaser then give the car a foam over the top... The car after 5 minutes.... The car has team dynamics lightweight wheels on the same as the vxrpc ones before they are rebadged...They really suit this car especially as Aussie has kept the colour flowing with the car and had the rear lower sprayed black aswell... The wheels werre cleaned with p21,s wheel gel and then apc diluted 4:1 for the callipers... I had to use my 1 inch wheel brush to succesfully get behind the callipers on this ap 4 pots... I then decided to use a new sonus green on the car because Aussie keeps the car locked underground and henceno carbon deposits or bad contamination has really settled on the car... I used chem guys maxi suds as a lube today to see what it was like but i prefer my z***l lube to be honest... The claybar after 1 panel.. The rest of the car was then clayed over... The car was then washed over using a schmitt by the edge after i had power washed it off... Car was then washed off before being dryed using aquatouch drying towel... The car was then masked up ready for paintwork correction and machine polishing... The main reason that Aussie had bought the car to me was that like myself he is a perfectionist and cannot stand seeing his car in underground carparks and perfect lighting and seeing swirls on the car ... The car was actually quite bad under fluo lighting there were also some deeper scratches aswell The top picture is roof as it is and the lower picture is after correction.. And my pad afterwards The car had a very strange pin pricking on it like mine had when it was new so i cut a small amount off the clearcoat to try and sharpen the reflection and clarity of the image reflected in the paintwork....Below is an example of the bonnet half corrected and half left as original...Arrow denotees point of correction stopping....You can see the tube go from fuzzy to better clarity..The red also deepens The rest of the bonnet was then done and then highly polished using some new polish i have aquired.. I then decided to glaze the car before going onto the wheels using jetseal 109 and leaving for 20 minutes to catalyse then the whole car is jetsealed (fresh pads on every change of product!!Dont mix and match) After about 20 to 30 minutes the jetseal is wiped off gently and reveals the new finish very glassy looking THE RESULTS
wow wow wow that is a sweet car. I love the red. you did an awsome job as ussaul. I ove your write ups. Great job Marc
Like Calgary said....WOW! You did an awesome job and I am loving the look of the glaze followed by the JetSeal. The paint looked so incredible when you finished and loved the car as well.
Very nice detail there Marc :thumb: I have lots of questions for you okay here goes: 1 - What glaze did you use? 2 - What's this new polish you mentioned? 3 - Why is the vehicle single stage paint? I thought it had a clear coat? Just wondering that's all. 4 - What camera are you using? Lense too? 5 - You always seem to go to that same underground parking, is that near by your place? Just wondering again. Your camera skills are impresive...that's something I'm working on. Vehicle looks great, thank you for sharing :thumb:
BEAUTIFUL work sir! Anyone who says that Jetseal is Mickey Mouse, this should be the proof in the pudding. By the way, if anyone likes these cars, they are now available under the Saturn name. Just rip off the badges and slap on some Opel badges!!! Hopefully they'll come out with the "VXR" version as well for the US market.
WHAT? Whats the name of the Saturn car????? If this is true, I might go and BUY ONE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill "VXR" the thing MYSELF!
I looked it up, the Astra XR. I dont think its for sale yet, but it should be soon. 0-60 in 9 sec..... LOL I think I may pull the trigger, I gotta call the Saturn dealers and read around on the net first. Im going to convert it into an Opel....
Since Saturn is now part of GM, they are rebadging this one and I couldn't be more excited. I think it'll be out in a few months in the US. It's not an expensive car (unless you pull a Marc and go all VXR), with nice functional interiors. As far as I know, very reliable as well. Did you know this is the best selling car in Europe? And yes: rip off the Saturn badges and go all OPEL!!!
Dang bro you have some detail pics there...I highly enjoyed them...Man that car is looking awesome....
