Got me a tripod

Well I mentioned I went to the camera store and was so close on purchasing a 40D camera, man they are gorgeous cameras but I think the 40D is too much camera for me at the moment...that and I still need to learn a bit more so I passed on the 40D...but I did pick up this wicked tripod:















Well as you can see I got a long way to go on taking pictures but my friend recomended this tripod, he told me that a tripod will last for ever so I tried to get a good one.

 

I've been using my dad's tripod since I was 9. He got the tripod for $200 in 1987. Tripod FTW. :thumb:

 

Great tripod, I see why you were so excited about it when i was talking to you today!!! The tripods really do make a huge difference!!

 

No way really..wow....well that makes me feel much better now for two reasons..one is that tripod has lasted a very long time and two I feel better spending the amount of money I did on the tripod...tripods arent cheap at all :no: but well worth it if they last that long...thanks for sharing vrwm :thumb:

Bout time. I broke my tripod last night. Had to go out and buy a new one today.

 

Broke it really how did you do that?

 

i have gone threw 3 tripods lol....but they were just 30 dollar ones....now i have a good solid one

 

:nod: yup I did the same went with a really cheap one....cheapes there was and not even a week and it broke...so I took it back and upgraded to this one :thumb: if I break this one there's no hope for me :thumbdown:

 

Yeah, thats what happened to me. Gone through two cheap ones.

 

Carlos, what kind of tripod is that? I have a Velbron, which is alright, but yours looks like the donkey's danglies!

Both my co-worker (big photo addict) and my other friend that takes pictures for a living recomended this tri pod. Said it will last me for ever, it will take a beating and keep on standing oh and it has some nice weight on it so it will hold any camera and lense heck it looked good to me :thumb: and it feels really nice too..the joy stick is funny reminds me of those old Atari games hahahahaha

Take some pictures in your garage with it at night and see how much better the pictures will look.

 

i think i have the same Tripod Carlos.. i paid about $115 for it.. Manfrotto I heard is the best out t here..

 

Bogen/Manfrotto tripods are great, solid tripods that have been around forever. I have a 3001B Pro with a 3 way tilt head but the only thing I hate about it is the leg release. In their newer models they went to the leg lock release. In older models they had a push button release where the buttons are situated near the neck of the tripod and all you had to do was hold your tripod at the height you want it and press the buttons to let the legs fall out. I miss that design =\ Congrats on your tripod!

 

Man $115 wow that's cheap...I payd about 4x what you paid but yes from what I've read and was told Manfrotto makes great tripods and it shows as I still havent broken it lol.

Yea, a co-worker has the same stile your talking about the button release. I haven't seen it but he showed me a picture of it...see that push button makes so much sense...why change it

 

the model i have is 725B Manfrotto with balljoint swivel and quick release... its really nice..

 

I love those balljoint swivels they make it super easy to manuever your camera.

Bogen/Manfrotto have been in the industry forever and are the choice for many professional photographers.

There is another tripod manufacture that's been around for quite some time and if I had the money, I would go with Gitzo. They make amazing tripods that are just as solid as Bogen/Manfrotto but can weigh significantly less. Their carbon series is a great example. I used to work at a camera store and it was unbelievable how light these tripods were.

But anyways, the tripod is a great addition to your collection, Carlos and I'm sure you'll soon find a need/want to buy a monopod. They're great for shooting events like track days. Easy to move around and easy to pivot. Congrats again.
