We Need A True Swissvax Test!!!!!

this is what keeps the hobby growing and the wax manurfactures rich. if ya think it's worth it buy it, use it and post your findings if you wish . it's all good.

 

Amen, brother. The thing is most cars I detail are daily drivers. I want durability as much as I want shine.

 

The topic of expensive waxes, its a lively one on every detailing forum isn't it?!

I've been through the mill on this topic - I've bought loads of waxes, trying each and every one out and at the end of the day what have I personally found for myself? Well, looks wise - its all in the prep! Spend hours, days with a fine finishing polish burnishing the finish to a high gloss and it will make little difference in the grand scheme of things whther your throw on Mystery or Collinite 476. Really.

Do I regret having spend quite literally thousands on different waxes? Heck no! Its my hobby, and I've enjoyed trying them all out, I have nearly 40 different waxes now... yeah, they all do the same thing pretty much. One will have a slightly different nuance to the other, but at the end of the day they all do the same thing. The biggest difference is the different smells!

Will I stop buying new waxes to try... well, given I've just spend near a hundred quid on Dodo Supernatural, I am going to guess that answer is no!! Yeah, it'll probably be the same as the rest but to just assume that wouldn't be any fun for me! I will end up using all my waxes throughout time, and maybe, just maybe, one wax one day will make me stand back and go "yeah, now that really has made more than just a subtle difference".

A little story for you - recent detailing meet in Birmingham, UK (I travel all over the UK for detailing meets ) I machine polished the bootlid of a Mercedes E-Class. Then I handed over a tub of Poorboys Nattys and a tub of Zymol Concours. Lime Primed the panel to prep it after machining, and then I left the building and let people put on one wax on one side and the other wax on the other side.... Could I tell the difference when I went back in? Nope! I guessed wrongly in fact, emphasis on that I "guessed"! Spray some water on the panel, and it was the £12 Nattys that cleared most of the water!!

Having played around with loads of waxes, cheap and expensive, I can safely say that there will be one expensive wax I will buy again - and that is Swissvax Best Of Show (Concourso) - as it does in my eyes leave little something tangible extra over other waxes, a little extra wettness on the finish that just makes it worth the extra.... well not exactly worth the premium but at least it gave something a little extra over the norm. So if you do go for that purchase, I think you'll be happy with the results.

Personally I have Mystery on order and I still have more than half of
Swissvax concorso or in the UK best of show. Concorso has one problem
the version I got has a gritty feel to it almost like rubbing in ur hands
sand paper but it melts, so it is not safe for me to use the PC to apply it,
Thats the only reason I am trying Mystery for this summer, and If I like it
and it will apply with the PC just "ok" then I will stick to it as a Carnuba wax for summer's.

The story is, know what you want and what you are looking for and just get it.

 

USA's version of Concorso is not grainy or soft like the older or other version. It is a hard wax and is easily applied with a foam applicator. I suspect you could pop it out of its container and smear it on a foam pad and apply it with a PC. Never tried this as I prefer to do it by hand.

 

The version I have from DD is grainy, I talked to phil about it, he likes the one I have
but they stopped making it that is swissvax

you don't have to pop it out of the can to apply any wax in a container, just using a
foam applicator apply it to the panel thick and spread with the PC on finishing pad,
just make sure the pad is primed, in this case primed with swissvax quick finish

 

My Swissvax final comment:

I have had 2 coats on my black 2007 Jeep for 4 weeks now, and I have washed it 4 times. Still beading well, still glossy, although less "greasy" than before. The first week revealed a ridiculous amount of dust sticking to it. Ridiculous to the point that the car looked like it needed a shave. After the second foam wash with Zaino Z-7, that seemed to stop. I do see excessive dirt on the paint after a rain, this stuff is sticky.

I love the appearance and the exclusivity of using a $580 car wax, but I don’t think it is made for my use. A daily driver isn’t the ideal candidate. I applied it to a white 2007 760Li a few weeks ago, also a daily driver. It has the same excessive dust adhering issues post rain.

Background on the Jeep:
It's a 2007 with 3,500 miles on it. It now stays outside 24/7. It was polished with 106ff prior to the application of Mystery. I waited 3 days and applied a second coat of Mystery after a 1:1 diluted mixture of Pro-Detailer wipe down.

yea. i notice i get a lot of dust accumulation after a few days. But, most carnubas do that. I know after I did my gfs car with souvie she complained about it.

Next time I wax, im gonna try cg speedwipe anti static and see if that helps.

I have read that the car itself also has some sort of static charge. I forgot what forum, but someone grounded their car and there wasn't as much dust accumulation as before using a ground.

 

Wow, that did seem to really hold the dirt. I am used to Zaino where the rain almost washes it clean.

Have you used it on any garage queen's? How does it work on them?

How about Concorso, does it have the same qualities or should I say is it as bad?

 

Concorso is next up for photos and a write up. They are the same to me. I have it on a BMW 08 550i daily driver that I havent touched in 5 weeks and a Gallardo "garage bull". (almost 1,000 miles in 18+ months) i havent seen it in a while and most likely wont see it until the end of summer.

I'm just losing interest in carnauba waxes. They are like wine to some, but I already have a wine collection. I'm looking to make money with these things, not excuses.

 

Yes, 99% of my client base request Zaino. I also feel the durability helps substantiate the higher cost of my detail jobs vs a carnuaba detail. The fact that multiple coats are applied also helps. Sure, they may come back more often if I use a wax but then they may not come back at all after their cars stops beading in 4 to 6 weeks. I have a few annual customers that do not touch their cars themselves and when they return they still show traces of polish. Not much but they would look a lot worse if they have had nothing on them for 9 months.

And as far as making money goes, you need to do quite a few details or up charge quite a bit to cover a $500 to $1700 LSP that most of my clients would not be able to differentiate between Z5p.

That said I do enjoy a change once in a while and will throw a coat of nuba on one my cars for a change.

You are right this stuff is sticky as I just got mine but did not
yet open it, waiting to get detox paint system on its way before
I apply Mystery, I think a quick FK quick detailer wipe down
might reduce the problem a little, I have also noticed
the dusting issue with Concorso before but I guess
it is all expected with any carnauba waxes full of melting oils over time.
