ouch!!!! this forums about detailing and asking quistions about products sorry if its bothering you .. if you must know im going to order best of show in a week or so . ive been getting into waxes more and more latley .which is why i like asking quistions about them .

 

does it make a difference if i buy this wax or not? im not sure why it bothers you.

You are taking my post too personally - It doesn't bother me and I apologize if I offended you.

I am just trying to understand the motive behind the threads - I mean I am not going to drop $500 for a wax until I can come up with a solid plan on how to re-coupe the money (ala customer requests) therefore I am not asking questions about it especially considering that the opionions of looks of a wax are subjective at best - ANYWAX regardless of expense is going to get a wide array of opinions..

Questions in durability, ease of use and for some how it smells: would give more definitive answers BUT as you can see from the recent threads about "is this wax worth it" they do not provide any thing conclusive... what have we learned from the threads other than some people "see" the difference and some people dont.. there has been nothing conclusive that has came from them....

I guess what I am getting at is this, you will not gat a conclusive answer, there will always be disputes as to whether it's worth it or not..

Kind of like the "is zaino the same as DG" or "is product "X" just a CG relable".. they dont get you, me or anyone else any further..

At the end of the day it is your money and you will be the only one to determine if the purchase was worth it - so with that said determine a $ amount you feel comfortable spending and take the plunge - then *you* will know for sure what *you* feel on the subject...

no prob . so far ive used pinnicel waxes and love them !!! now as for me trying swissvax its purely because i love detailing and trying different things . i know if i try best of show or concorso its not going to look that much better then souveran . but for me trying other waxes keeps our hobby interesting . im sure at the least duability will be much better.

 

Waxes wont really show in pics, in all of my pictures I post of my details are all "pre wax/ pre sealant" pictures.

It doesnt matter what wax I put on, you cant tell from the pics IMO.

Even in person, one person's preference is different from another.

If you go by an objective answer, any wax over $20 is not "worth it" because you will never get the improvement in looks relative to the increase in price.

If its a subjective answer you are looking for, then its irrelevant because then it comes down to personal preference and judgment of value.

I think you will LOVE best of show Tom. Congrats on ur future purchase!!!

I think if you speed a lot of you money for a wax you'll probably try to convice yourself that it does look better so you don't feel like you wasted your money. It's true about a lot of things. We all try to justify are actions. So if it makes you feel good spending $500, $1,000 or more on a wax I say go for it. I'm sure it will look good to you. The more money you spend the better it will probably look in your eyes.

If one of your customers wants to spend a lot of money on a wax then I say definitely go for.

One thing for certain is spending a lot of money on a wax is not going to make you a better detailer. If a car looks better with an expensive wax is always going to be a matter of opinion.

There are a lot of for under $100 that look excellant IMO.

 

Look after having about 10 diff nubas at any time NO PICS are going to show the diff between a higher end nuba

ONE thing is for certain concours/concourso has something to it. The depth and wetness is FAR superior than other waxs I have used

Next for me is vintage I am VERY impressed with concours and want MORE

 

Ive been debating which SV to purchase the last few weeks and reading post after post on other detailing sites. Phil told me JL had the wax i was considering (Saphir). So I pm'd JL and he told me it was a great wax and proceeded to convince me to buy some of Rubbish Boy's OE and Juiced edition. I'm excited about it. For the price, its a pretty good value.

 

if you want the wax, drop the cash on it. It does look different that souveran. I find that its a brighter shine.

On a serious note. The only thing I can think of to compare it to is it is like buying a really good suit. Sure, most people cannot tell the difference between a $200, to a $2000 suit. Sure, the 2g suit may feel a little better putting it on and may even fit a little better. But the fit is actually like your paint prep. You are better off with a cheap suit that fits you great than a expensive suit that has not been fitted properly for your build. So if I was all of you guys I would first look at is my paint prep. If you get your finish flawless it will look good with Turtle wax on it. Add that $2000 Vintage and it will be a little better but most people really won't know if you used a $2000 suit, I mean wax or a $20 wax.

So, personally, I would spend 50 bucks on a bottle of Menzerna PO85RD and a good Flex or BO6040 buffer to get your paint perfect before I spent a dime on wax. Then buy a quality wax or sealant that is "in your budget". Be it Natty's, Lusso Oro, Pinnacle Souveran, Swissvax, Vintage or my personal favorite, Zaino.


On a side note, I think more wax manufacturers should sell 1 or 2oz sample pots so detailers don't need to mortgage the farm to find out if they like these high end waxes. I am sure Tom would have a lot less questions if you could have just bought a $35 or $50 sampler of Swissvax to answer his questions. Just look at the demand for the discontinued Zymol Sampler kits SKSK1.
