Here are the photos from a recent detail on a 2005 World Rally Blue Subaru STI. The car puts out 340hp & 340tq to the wheels at 18psi. Paint was protected with POLISHANGEL Viking Shield & Blue Xilion. The first thing after the wash was to address the engine bay. Metal was polished with Palladium and the rest of the engine bay was cleaned & dressed with Engine When polishing began, I first addressed the orange peel in the trunk and hood scoop with the CarPro Denim Orange Peeling pads and POLISHANGEL Master Compound. The rest of the paint was in fairly good shape with just a few things to address Before: After: Certain areas had what looked to be DA marks Before: After: Before: After: Before: After (leveling the paint change the perspective of the reflection) A few rubber seems had some wax buildup which was easily removed: An interesting scuff on the front lip: Before: Polished with POLISHANGEL Master Compound and the Master Compound machine pad Voila! This is the finish before any finishing steps Top of the grille before: After the same combination with the lip. No finishing steps: Taillights Before: After: Around the gas tank before: After: Pillar before: After: Side skirts corrected with RUPES green pads & Master Compound: After polishing, no LSP: Viking Shield about to be applied: First coat of Viking Shield applied by DA. Second coat was applied by hand. Intercooler piping before: After hand polishing with Palladium: Wheels protected with Diver (lips) & White Alabaster (faces) ________________________
After Pictures: The roof was the only remaining original paint with nearly 90,000 miles! (Truck was popped a bit) That paint fade...
My favorite color on an STI. I actually like the wheel and caliper color combination as well. Excellent work. How do you like the Rupes 3" I'm very close to pulling the trigger on one. Looks like it was able to take care of the side skirts easily.
Thanks!! The air-powered LHR75 is great for these areas. I don't have the electric version so I can't comment on whether or not that would work the same. The design of the Rupes pads greatly helped for these side skirts. Thanks! Thank you!
Thank you! Thanks! The owner takes very good care of it. It is probably the best maintained car I've worked on. Thank you!! Does seems a bit strange at first but in person, this car is done right and very unique. Here's a photo (not mine) of it aired out:
