NanoSkin Autoscrub Wash Mitt — How do I know it's even working?

My care package from Detailer's Domain arrived Friday night and I was finally able to work on the car today. I did a quick wash since the car was filthy. Filled up 2 gallons of water in the bucket and added approximately 4 oz. of Optimum No Rinse Wash & Shine to the bucket to create the lubrication.

Followed the instructions from NanoSkin on how to break the mitt in (circular motion on glass for 60 seconds). I did feel a very slight tackiness so I started on the roof of the car, making sure to keep the pad lubricated.

I honestly felt no tug or pull on the mitt and when I looked at the mit after the roof, there was no visible contaminants like you'd see on a clay bar. Keep in mind, it's a brand new car.

I followed up with some Auto Finesse Iron Out and saw very little of the purple drips so I'm assuming that the wash mitt did in fact pull some of that off of the paint.

Should I have been seeing the contaminants on the mitt like I would with clay or should I blindly accept the fact that I spent $50 on a product and just trust that it's working?

 

if the car is brand new, and it feels nice and slick you may not have needed to use the nano skin or it would not have any contaminants to pull.

over time the paint will get contaminated so you will have use for the nano skin autoscrub mitt.

 

Did you do the "Baggie Test"? I have the mitt and the block and they work. You won't see the contaminants like you will in the clay bar.
I just used mine on a 14 year old car that had not been clayed in a year. I did not feel alot of pulling on mine either but then again I did use a great deal of lubricating agent.
IMO, you did not waste your money. Since you followed up with Iron Out you saw your results. I like to Iron Out first then use the mitt/block but that's me.

 

I would also suggest the Iron X soap also for deconing and maintaining.

 

You didn't waste your money that's for sure I used it on my wifey's car first and it was very rough since the car had probably never been clayed properly or if it has it was over 5 years. My brand new car yea different story but still a little feel in a couple of spots. It does it's job and it does it well and quickly do not be disappointed in it. And try it again in six months do a Baggie test first and then after and see what you think or try it on another car heck you will get tons of use out of it.

 

Ok cool. I've got the 2 yr. old Mazda to do next.

I use the Nanoskin Wash mitt with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash n Gloss and it works great. If your paint is contaminated, when you start to use the mitt you will notice the paint will give you some resistance and you can feel the mitt doesn’t glide smoothly. After a few passes the mitt begins to glide freely and easier and the section is complete. The paint should feel nice a slick and not like sand paper.

 

I use the Nano skin Auto scrub 6" pad on my cars and any cars I wash. The pad scrubs off lots of debris and crud, and leaves the surface clean and ready for more wash/wax and shine. I really enjoy using that over clay. I might need a new one by end of year, it is starting to show some wear on the edges.
