Hey guys. I was searching a little on the forums and noticed a lot of you dread brilliant black. I have a 2011 audi A4 and the swirls don't seem to be as bad as my search described. Truthfully, a little hand polishing has always been sufficient in dampening the amount of swirls noticed. But now I am looking for a crisp job. I ordered myself the pc 7424xp and I purchased black light, Mr. Pink, apc, and sonax wheel cleaner for now. Attached is a picture of the extent of the swirl marks. Let me know what you guys suggest as far as backing plates, pads, compounds, polishes, clays and so on.

Brillant black is not a easy color to correct. I did a few of them and owned one myself. from your picture I see some deep scratches ( RIDs ), swirls and marring. I dunno how far you want to go, because Brillant black is hard to correct but easy to mar ( meaning be very careful with maintenance and needs lots of TLC ). The CG blacklight will hide some marring but thats only a temporary fix. To remove the swirls I would go Menz FG400, then follow it with Menz SF4000. http://www.detailersdomain.com/Buy-Menzerna-FG400-and-SF4000-pint-and-Get-Top-Inspection-Free_p_980.html A Megs cutting pad for the compound http://www.detailersdomain.com/Meguiars-5-DA-Microfiber-Finishing-Disc-2-Pack-_p_557.html and a uber green pad with the polish http://www.detailersdomain.com/Uber-Green-Pad-55-inch-polish-pad_p_224.html . IME I compound on speed 5-6 on a PC 7424xp and polished on speed 4.5-5 ( keep the pad rotating slow, the faster the pad rotates, the more mirco marring you will get ). My favorite BP is the Megs 5in BP, tin but soft. http://www.detailersdomain.com/Meguiars-5-DA-Polisher-Backing-Plate-W67DA_p_586.html

Why are you going for so many shiny interior dressings?? Almost armor-allish. I would replace the black on black, silk shine dressing, tire and trim gel, and black on black with 1z interior stuff like cockpit premium and plastic deep cleaner you could even take out the leather conditoner and get this kit from Phil https://www.detailersdomain.com/1Z-einszett-Interior-Kit_p_162.html. Then maybe adams svrt for the tires and trim or opti bond. CG has some good values like car wash and v7 get great reviews but otherwise I think I would look elsewhere for my money. Just my .02.

I would also start at correcting the source of the swirl marks from happening. none of those car washes either!

    1 - good presure washer
    2 - foam cannon
    3 - pre-wash (foam on/leave for 5min/spray off )
4 - car wash (2-3 bucket, good clean mits/proper technique top to bottom)
5 - AIR DRY with something like Air Force Master Blaster

no point in removing swirls if you are just going to put them right back in after your first wash :)
