I think I'm on my 3rd of 4th Valve... Have 2 constant (one on the hose in the back and another on a outlet out front). My issue is that over time, the shutoff valve get's *sticky* and it does not full open. It opens up 3/4 of the way and then get's terrible resistence. I've taken it apart. Pretty straightforward. Ball balve, locknut and a poly washer to allow the lever to move. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. If you back out the locknut, it obviously will let the shutoff fully open, but then the tension is too sloppy and is easily closed. At $20 per shutoff, I've taken the bad ones and have just put new ones there. I dunno....I still have at least 3 more new ones sitting in my stash. I may just resort back to a *trigger spray* or just use the *open-close* function of the nozzle itself.
Hmm. I have not used mine enough to see this. From looking at the design, the shaft (bent) or ball are not in spec.
I have a cheap one, works fine had it for 3 years. I think I paid 8.00 at lowes for it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2PC-ZINK-SH...308?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1bb30b44
I've had one of those before the Dramms. Plastic handle broke nor is it a Full Port Valve... Dramm was pricey back in it's day. A quick google and it's still pricey. Whether or not there is a $ to value ration, I'm not quite sure I would say yes. Backing out the locknut so the lever has no tension solves it. But then there is less tension-no tension when I want to shut it off. I must be the only one experiencing these issues. It must not be me, cause I've got 3 that have suffered the same fate....
I have had no issues with my craftsman fire hose or my foam gun, not sure how a full port valve is going to be any different....... How much are the dramm ones? Maybe Ill try it out. Do you have hard water? could it be building up?
Are we talking about same one? Mine has a brass handle. The ball is likely Delrin material. It has a 0.5inch inside diameter is my Gilmour definition is full flow.
Dayum Bunky . Do you keep it in your Snap On Toolbox, and only hook it up when you use the hose ;-) Mines' on 24/7/365 and looks just a bit more *used* that your pic. We are indeed talking about the same one.
I've had mine for almost a year now and it's still working fine. Have you contacted Dramm? It's kind of an expensive item to have to replace often.
The picture was taken just after I got it. I use brass disconnects on everything (hose, shut off, pressure washer, foam gun, regular sprayer, hose to sheet water) so it does not stay on the hose.
QD here as well....on everything, including the various *wands* for the garden and such. The shut off is the 1st thing on the hose that stays permanent, with the QD coupler right on it. Don't see a reason to ever need to take off the QD. I thought maybe it was dirt, but when I break it down, nothing .... I dunno. It's more annoying at most, especially for a $$ to behave this one, not 1X but 3X....and I'm sure the one I replaced it, will develop 4X..
No problems here. I take my hose off when I'm done. Leaving the hose with all of the qd hardware attached to it will probably get stolen even in the burbs.
Weird mine worked fine over the summer. I just had to tighten the nut once since it was opening and closing when I initially received it. Did you end up buying another one yet?
