This car was restored at a body shop/restoration center. The job they did with the paint was sub-par for a classic like this. There are sanding marks in the primer throughout the entire car. The roof was especially bad. There was a good amount of sanding marks left from the wet sand and buff, plus several burn through areas. Also, the flat black on the hood was not sprayed evenly. There are spots where it was darker than other areas. I pointed everything out to the customer prior to doing the job. He was aware of some of the issues, but not all. Especially the burn through areas. Which I documented. The goal of this detail was to spot wet sand a few areas that had orange and deeper scratches. Then a full compound and polish. Pic of the primer sanding marks... Wheels & Tires where cleaned, then the car was foamed. Cracks & crevices were agitated. After the wash and clay bar it was time to inspect the paint a little more. Vehicle was taped up...lots of tape used here... One of the areas to be wet sanded Another area wet sanded - had to be careful here not much room to play with Couple 50/50's Ball of tape used... And the afters - Going to apologize it was a rainy day so no real sun shots. I had to wait for the rain to slow to get the car out of the garage so I could even get the pics. You'll notice some rain drops in the pics. Thanks for reading!
Thanks! Yeah I can't believe he even took delivery of it with all the defects and stuff. Especially that hood. It stands out like a sore thumb.
I never expect much from a body shop, even the "high end" still let cars go, there job is to repaint them and repair them............ and their idea of detailing is so far off the mark its comical. Good job making it right.
Looks great man. It almost appears if the paint or clearcoat is thin in some areas. That was a pretty piss poor paint job. You got it looking a lot better for sure though.
