I'm looking for a really good rolling chair to sit on when i'm working on doors and side panels.... Does anyone have some good recommendations? I've seen the ones from Sears , Cdn. Tire... etc .. but i'm looking for a high quality chair that rolls easily on cement floors... Any recommendations would be good.... Thanks... Hp
I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard the Racatac that Phil sells is awesome to use you can get in to a comfortable kneeling position. I just use a cheap Harbor Freight rolling stool which hasn't broken on me yet. I just wish it went lower
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/general-service/creepers/mechanics-creepers/ http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/CSTB1/HEAVY-DUTY-TOOL-BOX-CREEPER-SEAT/ http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/CS2A/PADDED-SEAT-WITH-PLASTIC-PAN/ there are many variations of the "u" frame seat. i'm looking for one myself. i don't think i need the hydraulic lift seats b/c if i need to go low on the door panel, i'll either be sitting or lying on the ground polishing that area. or try snap on tools both are kinda pricey, there are cheaper alternatives at crappy tire and sears and other big box stores.
I bought one awhile back from lowes for like thirty bucks. It's still working great for rolling around. The seat has a nice cushion but doesn't have a back. The driveway I roll around on has rocks and whatnot (old driveway) so I'm sure it'd work awesome on anything. Oh, and I'm not a small person as far as weight goes so the seat holds up well for what I paid.
I have the racatac and it is very comfortable to use while doing door panels and detailing lower areas of the car. saves my back and knees big time.
I have the hydraulic one from Canadian Tire which goes great on MY cement/concrete garage floor. At the height I'm at (5'11" - so not too tall, not too short, just right ) I find it very useful to do lower/mid panels when compressed and then I raise it to do the lower part of the A/B/C pillars, tops of fenders, etc. It was a cheap price too, however not the most comfortable one I've ever sat on. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...~0090097P/Pneumatic+Roller+Seat.jsp?locale=en
I have a Griot's my wife bought me a few years ago and never liked it. Since I put pressure on the Rotary when I correct, I dont want anything to interfere with that process, especially on the lowest parts of panels. So I just got some flexible plastic knee pads from H/D and kneel in front of the panel and get it done. Knees are fine, no problems, and I dont have something else in the garage floor to move around while Im working. I also dont like sitting down or lying down to get the bottom and underneath panels either. Works great for me. The best solution for all of us would be a nice scissor lift like some of the guys have... Yeah, thats the ticket ! Dan F
I picked up this exact seat but made by sears: http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/CS2A/PADDED-SEAT-WITH-PLASTIC-PAN/ It was only $25 too LoL vs the $75 for the mactools one.
