An unlikely vehicle at Detailer's Domain but still with the same care and attention

Yep, I'm the same way, rates are the same no matter what the car. Higher end cars generally have owners that don't have tight budgets so they don't seem to mind spending an hours extra labor rate to play with and use it for whatever is beneficial to the job. No matter what Phil and his guy's are working on it will end up being spot on! I hear the team is looking for a city bus or train to tackle???

Haha. Even though they usually take more time I think filthy cars like that are the most fun because you see such a drastic improvement. I did my step-fathers car for Fathers Day and he is an AVID smoker. I could write my name in the ash on the dashboard. Although the exterior wasn't top notch, the interior was 110% turnaround.

    Great work Phil!

Paint is paint and as long as you're paid appropriately for your time it shouldn't matter if you're dialing in a Ford E250 or a Ferrari Enzo! I say mad props to you for knowing this and for not getting caught up in the whole image BS. :applause:

The nice things about vehicles like that is that the difference is SO dramatic that it's easy to please the owners. ;)

    Cheers,
    Rasky

This hits the "Nail on the head" as early in my career I worked on MANY vehicles like this, but of course what many will not see is the point made above(It is not what you are working on but it's condition and size which equates to more time = more hours spent @ such and such price point) and 98% of people will not pay over $1,200.00 dollars and up to properly restore the vehicle to a state that is as close to new as possible, people with means can........ and do(There are exceptions as wealthy people can also be "Thrifty") thus doing a certain genre of vehicles goes past a percieved image and has everything to do with being profitable as opposed to being NON-profitable.

nice job! were you able to remove all the crap with autoscrub? or did you have to use some aggressive clay along with it?

I honestly can see people with brand new cars, exotics what not being more skeptical paying a higher price point then someone with a totally trashed kid hauler or in this case a work van......(and most uber wealthy people I know are very tight with the money)

Case in point a brand new car is hard IMO to sell a detail on as to them visually there is nothing wrong with it at 10 feet, but the more you educate the more they are likely to pay. But you bring me a trashed SUV, with stains and the like people can see that, they can in their mind also see a difference of what it will look like when it is done. Ive done my fair share of trashed SUVs and honestly they were more work but they were an easier sell..... again, money is money regardless what you detailed.

They are also easier to get as repeat customers, as they will continually trash their cars and atleast once a year want it cleaned out....

Bingo! Education is key! After I show some of customers what to look for on new cars before purchase, they say "They all have some form of defects"? There new, they should be perfect! Right! Not so much though! I was lucky enough to inspect a customer of mine's new 458 before it was handed over to him, and even looking at it in the QC department at Maranello we found defects all over it! 0 miles! Bob is right, most people won't pay what it takes to get there '99 Astro Van it's first bath, inside and out! But the 1 who does, it's like Shock and Awe when they see it! Because everything is like new to them! The colors change and the interior "Smells" new and "Looks" new! But these customers are few and far between!
